TLC's "The Real Skinny" to Document Excessive Skin Removal Surgery
The journey to lose weight does not always end after pounds are shed . For those who were morbidly obese, the excess skin that results from weight loss proves to be an everyday burden. No amount of exercise can tighten the pounds of skin that hang from their slimmer figures, and the result leads to additional medical problems, severe rashes and difficulty in performing basic tasks.
TLC's newest special THE REAL SKINNY, premiering on Monday, March 12 at 10 PM ET/PT, will take viewers on the emotional journey of a man and woman who have decided to undergo skin removal surgery. Utilizing Dr. Timothy Katzen's post-bariatric surgery expertise, patients Sarah and Chris will literally be "cut in half and put back together" in a circumferential body lift that removes a significant number of pounds. The results; however, are not always as positive as expected. Post-surgery infections are common with this procedure and the special will document Chris's heartwrenching and painful struggle to fight through complications and become the active dad he has always wanted to be.
