LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- As expected, NBC has dropped the axe on its freshman entries "Awake," "Best Friends Forever," "Bent" and "Are You There Chelsea?"
The news - as first reported by TVLine.com - comes as the Peacock locks in its 2012-13 lineup, due to be presented to the advertising community on Monday.
"Bent" opened to a 1.0 rating/3 share in 18-49 and 2.7 million viewers overall on March 21, marking the Peacock's lowest rated in-season comedy debut ever (beating the previous record set by last year's "The Paul Reiser Show"); while "Best Friends Forever" fared only slightly better in its launch two weeks later (1.2/4 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall), before getting the hook on April 27.
Meanwhile, "Are You There Chelsea?" finished its freshman run on March 28 with an equally modest 1.2 rating/4 share in 18-49 and 3.1 million viewers overall; and "Awake" continues to struggle in its Thursday, 10:00/9:00c slot as last night's 2.50 million viewers and 0.9 rating among adults 18-49 couldn't match the year-ago episode of "Outsourced" (2.96 million viewers, 1.5 rating in adults 18-49 on 5/12/11).
