NEW YORK, June 13, 2012 -- The life, career and legend of television pioneer Don Cornelius is brought to life in his own words in a one-hour special dedicated to telling the story behind the man by the man himself in DON CORNELIUS: VISIONARY, TRAILBLAZER, & CULTURAL ICON premiering Saturday, June 23rd at 11:00 P.M./8:00 P.M. PDT during Centric's Black Music Month. Homes across America would never be the same as Don Cornelius stepped into their living rooms weekly with his velvety smooth and cool baritone voice changing the future of African-American entertainment, and music television as a whole, for generations to come.

Inspired by one of Don Cornelius' last taped interviews, this documentary features the late Don Cornelius giving firsthand accounts and reflections of his early life and career during Soul Train that are accompanied by intimate photographs, exclusive footage, and special stories from former Soul Train performers, dancers, and devoted fans, illustrating the impact of Soul Train across the nation. From the innovative Soul Train Line, exclusive live performances by The Jackson Five, James Brown, Donna Summer, Stevie Wonder, and many more music legends, from breaking fashion trends, to cutting-edge dance moves, we will hear Don's deep, resonating voice take us once more, on the hippest trip in America.
