SHOWTIME(R) HONORS HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

Line Up Includes Comedy Specials STEVE TREVINO: GRANDPA JOE'S SON, WILLIE BARCENA: I GOTTA BE HONEST, And Feature Film A BETTER LIFE Starring Academy Award(R)-Nominated Actor Demian Bichir

LOS ANGELES, CA - (September 5, 2012) - To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 - October 15), SHOWTIME presents programming that embodies the heart of Latino themes and talent. In addition to a slate of compelling and diverse content year-round, SHOWTIME is proud to feature three distinct programs that honor the culture and contributions of Hispanics in America.

WILLIE BARCENA: I GOTTA BE HONEST

Premiere: Sept. 15th at 8 p.m. ET/PT

In his second one-hour comedy special, Willie Barcena takes 20 years of stand-up experience to a whole new level by breaking through established stereotypes, all while affirming others. Touching on real life stories of anger management, struggling to understand different religions, coming to grips with his wife leaving him and the struggle to raise three boys, Barcena discusses his personal hardships with the unique hilarity and wit of a Mexican-American man from Boyle Heights, Los Angeles.

A BETTER LIFE

Premiere: October 4 at 8p.m. ET/PT

The 2011 drama, A BETTER LIFE, follows Carlos Galindo (Demian Bichir), a Mexican single parent working as a gardener in East Los Angeles. A dedicated father, Carlos is frightened that his fourteen-year-old son, Luis (José Julián), will drift into local gang culture. Carlos borrows what little money he can and invests it all into his own gardening business, hoping to finally achieve the better life he always envisioned for his son. However, after an unexpected turn of events, everything he's worked for is suddenly taken away. Together, father and son embark on a physical and spiritual journey where they discover something more important - that family is the most important part of the American dream. Directed by Chris Weitz, A BETTER LIFE is produced by Paul Junger Witt, Christian McLaughlin, Chris Weitz, Jami Gertz and Stacey Lubliner. Star Demian Bichir's role earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor

STEVE TREVINO: GRANDPA JOE'S SON

Premiere: October 4 at 10p.m. ET/PT

Steve Trevino's first one-hour stand-up special is a comical testimony of his years growing up in the heart of Texas and a result of the decade he spent touring with Carlos Mencia. Unabashedly reliving stories of rebelling from his strict, but loving parents, his road rage and regrets from childhood, this special is a laugh-out-loud peek into the human psyche. Though Trevino may seem as American as any Texan can be - his distinctive stories of finding his way from a Hispanic upbringing in Corpus Christi to living his dream in Hollywood make for a comedy brand that is all his own.
