CBS Launches "NCIS: Los Angeles" Second Screen iPad App

"NCIS: Los Angeles Connect" Syncs with Season 4 Episodes Live and On-Demand to Bring Fans Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Content, Interactive Features, Social Integration and More

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, September 18, 2012 - Today, CBS Interactive announced the launch of a second-screen application for NCIS: LOS ANGELES, the number two scripted drama on television. NCIS: Los Angeles Connect is CBS' first show-specific iPad application offering fans of the show an enhanced viewing experience for each episode of NCIS: LOS ANGELES' 4th season, premiering Tuesday, Sept. 25, (9:00 PM ET/PT).

NCIS: Los Angeles Connect enables viewers to more deeply engage with each and every episode, whether they're watching NCIS: LOS ANGELES live on their local CBS station, on-demand, or on their DVR, by utilizing the app's sync function. The sync function will pinpoint which episode is being watched, locate how far along the viewer is in the episode, and tailor the experience accordingly.

The app is programmed by NCIS: LOS ANGELES writers and producers to offer a truly authentic NCIS experience. It will give fans an opportunity to take a deeper look at elements of the show, like photos and evidence from the NCIS: LOS ANGELES crime lab, which play a key role in the story but may only appear on screen for a split second. Other content features include behind-the-scenes access for each episode and a spotlight on the technology the NCIS: LOS ANGELES team uses on the job. NCIS: Los Angeles Connect will also include character back-stories, social feeds, quizzes, polls and more.

"As show creators, we are always looking for ways of adding to the audience experience and enjoyment of what we make. "The audience will be able to follow the unfolding episode, interacting in real time with each story shift or character interaction. As well as allowing the audience to review the evidence, check out suspects in the story and vote on who they think is the guilty party, the app will also give them access to maps, videos and photos from the episode and the show. Fans are going to find this app enormous fun!"

In addition to NCIS: Los Angeles Connect's exclusive behind-the-scenes content and interactive features, fans will also be able to join the social conversation around the show through the apps integrated social feeds. Using the CBS Connect platform, NCIS: Los Angeles Connect lets fans interact with one another and NCIS: LOS ANGELES talent via Twitter or Facebook all within the application.

NCIS: LOS ANGELES is a drama about the high-stakes world of a division of NCIS that is charged with apprehending dangerous and elusive criminals that pose a threat to the nation's security. By assuming false identities and utilizing the most advanced technology, this team of highly trained agents goes deep undercover, putting their lives on the line in the field to bring down their targets. Special Agent "G" Callen is a chameleon who transforms himself into whomever he needs to be to infiltrate the criminal underworld. His partner is Special Agent Sam Hanna, a former U.S. Navy SEAL who has seen action in both Afghanistan and Iraq. Assisting the team is the all-knowing Henrietta "Hetty" Lange, who oversees the staff and is tasked with providing everything from micro-surveillance cameras to cars for the team; Special Agent Kensi Blye, the exceptionally bright daughter of a slain Marine who lives for the adrenaline rush that comes with undercover work; Marty Deeks, a seasoned LAPD undercover detective who was recruited to the team by Hetty; Tech Operator Eric Beale, who has mastered every gadget and computer in the Ops Center; and Intelligence Analyst Nell Jones, who won the team's respect with her spot-on intelligence assessments and her shrewd insights. Armed with the latest in high tech gear and sent regularly into life-threatening situations, this tight-knit unit relies on each other to do what is necessary to protect national interests.
