LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- "The Killing" may not be dead after all.
Deadline.com reports the much-ballyhooed drama is on track for a third season, which would be shared between original broadcaster AMC and digital distributor Netflix. AMC, who originally pulled the plug back in July (read the story), would get the first window followed by Netflix - who will share in the production costs - shortly thereafter.
Production then is being targeted for a February start as co-stars Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman as well as showrunner Veena Sud are still under contract for a third season by producer Fox Television Studios.
"The Killing" averaged a modest 1.579 million viewers and a 0.5 rating among adults 18-49 this past season, down from its freshman average of 2.166 million viewers and a 0.6 adults 18-49 rating.
