TRAVEL CHANNEL GREENLIGHTS NEW ORIGINAL SERIES, "TAILGATE TAKEOVER" HOSTED BY ADAM RICHMAN, SPOTLIGHTING THE BEST TAILGATING ACROSS THE U.S.

Fans to Get a Taste of New Series in One-hour Special, "Super Bowl Tailgate Takeover," Premiering Wednesday, January 30 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT

CHEVY CHASE, MD (January 15, 2013) - Travel Channel has greenlit "Tailgate Takeover," a new original series hosted by Adam Richman that explores the best pavement parties ALL around the country. The 13 half-hour episodes, scheduled to premiere in the summer of 2013, will spotlight sporting events, concerts, festivals, fairs and any other venues folks love to set up a grill and celebrate. Viewers can get a taste of the new series with a one-hour special featuring the most incredible tailgate experiences leading up to Super Bowl XLVII (that will be played on Sunday, February 3 in New Orleans) in "Super Bowl Tailgate Takeover," premiering on Wednesday, January 30 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. The announcement was made today by Laureen Ong, President, Travel Channel.

"Travel Channel fan-favorite and food expert Adam Richman has crisscrossed the country sampling the most delicious and iconic food our nation has to offer. Now he's back, to takeover tailgating like never before," said Ong. "In the new greenlit series, 'Tailgate Takeover,' Adam will lead the network's quest in introducing the latest genre of travel entertainment. He'll take this national pastime to another dimension as he travels coast-to-coast from one outrageous build after another."

"A trip to the Super Bowl is the fantasy vacation for most of our viewers - where the party begins well before kickoff," added Andy Singer, General Manager, Travel Channel. "In the one-hour special, we're showing how some of the best NFL tailgaters party all football season from various games around the league. Then our new series will provide an even larger look at the unbelievable lengths fans across the country go to celebrate before a big event."

"Super Bowl Tailgate Takeover" (1x60) Produced by Sharp Entertainment with Travel Channel's Brian Leonard as Executive Producer

In the one-hour special, viewers will visit NFL games to see how superfans tailgate in cities like Atlanta, Miami, Houston, Kansas City and more. After learning from the nation's foremost tailgate experts, Richman puts this knowledge to good use. Days before the event, Richman, along with his "tailgate takeover" tech and design team, will create two giant and insanely tricked-out tailgates side-by-side in the shadow of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome - each one customized for the fans of the contending Super Bowl teams. He'll then surprise one passionate and deserving fan from each team, turn over the keys to the tailgate and serve up the ultimate experience for them and their friends to enjoy leading up to kickoff. Additionally, some NFL players stop by to join in the festivities.

Throughout the special, Richman and his tailgate team will build two of the biggest, most incredible and outrageous tailgate experiences to ever grace a sports-venue parking lot. Viewers will get a peek at the massive 90" 3D swivel-mounted TV with several other small adjustable TV's flanking it, ensuring that everyone can have the perfect viewing angle. He's also building one of the biggest grills to ever char a steak and a giant smoker that has to be towed in by a truck! Beyond the food, there will be an unbelievable assortment of game-day gadgets, fun games, big toys and everything else needed to enjoy the tailgate in style. Ultimately, Richman is customizing these tailgates for one specific fan of each Super Bowl team, and making sure that this is the "tailgate of their dreams" before The Big Game!

"Tailgate Takeover" (13x30) Produced by Sharp Entertainment with Travel Channel's Brian Leonard as Executive Producer

More information about "Tailgate Takeover" will be released later this year. The series, which begins production in February, premieres summer 2013.
