GOLDEN GLOBE(R) NOMINEE BROOKE SHIELDS TO JOIN LIFETIME'S HIT DRAMA "ARMY WIVES"

Series Returns for Seventh Season on Sunday, March 10, at 9:00pm ET/PT

NEW YORK, NY (January 24, 2013) - Golden Globe(R) Award nominee and five time People's Choice Award-winning actress Brooke Shields (Suddenly Susan, The Middle, Lipstick Jungle) is set to join theupcoming seventh season of Lifetime's hit drama Army Wives. The series will premiere on Sunday, March 10, at 9:00pm ET/PT.

Shields will portray brash and brilliant Air Force Colonel Katherine "Kat" Young. A crack C-17 pilot who can hold her own in the boys club atmosphere of the military, she's hardly touched down in her new assignment at Joint Base Marshall Bring before she clashes with Army General Michael Holden (Brian McNamara). Never one to step away from a fight, Kat is a fierce advocate for the Air Force as she and Holden jockey for their respective branches at the highest levels of power on base. Only after their initial skirmishes does Holden learn of Kat's tragic past, discovering they have more in common than he thought.

Army Wives follows the struggles, dreams and friendships of a diverse group of women - and one man - living with their spouses and families on an active Army post. The series stars Catherine Bell, Brian McNamara, Kelli Williams, Wendy Davis, Terry Serpico, Alyssa Diaz, JJ Soria, Ashanti, Torrey DeVitto, Elle McLemore and Jesse McCartney. Sally Pressman and Sterling K. Brown will also appear in several episodes.

Produced by ABC Studios, with Mark Gordon and Jeff Melvoin serving as executive producers, the series is based on the book Army Wives: The Unwritten Code of Military Marriage by Tanya Biank, who serves as a consultant.
