TYRANT (FX/Fox 21; W: Craig Wright; D: David Yates) - Ashraf Barhom is the latest addition to the drama pilot, about an unassuming American family - Barry, Molly and their kids - drawn into the workings of a turbulent Middle Eastern nation. He'll play Jamal, "Barry's cruel, entitled, brother, the next-in-line son of dictator Khalid Al-Fahed. He's married to Leila (Moran Atias), father of Ahmed, whose enormous upcoming wedding brings Barry and his American family back." Mehdi Dehbi also stars. (Deadline.com)

WAYWARD PINES (FOX/FX Productions; W: Chad Hodge; D: M. Night Shyamalan) - Shannyn Sossamon ("Mistresses") has joined the cast of the limited series, about a Secret Service Agent (Matt Dillon) who finds himself stranded in the seemingly bucolic town of Wayward Pines, Idaho while looking for two missing federal agents. She'll play his wife Theresa, herself a former agent who left the Service to raise their son Ben. Carla Gugino, Melissa Leo, Terrence Howard and Toby Jones also star. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Bravo has passed on its Anna Gunn-led drama pilot "Rita" however producer Fox Television Studios plans to shop the project elsewhere (Deadline.com); Ali Wentworth will guest on "Blue Bloods" as "an attractive woman with sex appeal whose steady string of complaints to the police over a neighbor leaves the PD with little sympathy" (EW.com); Molly Shannon is bound for both HBO's "Getting On" as Phyllis Sullivan, "a sweet, slightly discombobulated soul - at the end of her rope - who is giving too much of herself up in caring for children, spouse, pets, and now, her ailing mother," and FOX's "Raising Hope," as Maxime, the new owner of Howdy's (Deadline.com); and Kaitlyn Black's Annabeth Nass has been upped to series regular on "Hart of Dixie" (TVLine.com).
