HAPPY FACE (Lifetime, New!) - David Arquette is set to star in a new original movie at the cable channel, about 1990s serial killer Keith Hunter Jesperson, who claims "to have killed 160 people, but only eight victims have been confirmed, including his girlfriend, which led to his 1995 capture." Rick Bota is directing the project from a script by Richard Christian Matheson with Tom Patricia and Harvey Kahn executive producing for Front Street Pictures. Production is on track to begin next month in Vancouver. (Deadline.com)
LAW MAN (NBC, New!) - Mark Gibson and Philip Halprin (They Call Me Cuervo) have set up a potential drama at the Peacock inspired by Shon Hopwood's memoir and chronicles "the journey of a small-town basketball star who goes from young bank robber to federal prison inmate, during which time he became the greatest jailhouse lawyer in American history." CBS Television Studios-based Carol Mendelsohn Productions is behind the hour with the company's Carol Mendelsohn and Julie Weitz executive producing alongside said duo. Hopwood himself will also serve as a consultant. (Deadline.com)
THE OUTLAWS (Amazon; W: Jeremy Garelick & Jon Weinbach; D: Jay Chandrasekhar) - Hayes MacArthur ("Go On") and Josh Peck ("Drake & Josh") have both scored roles on the comedy pilot, about the ins and outs of a professional football team from the perspective of both the players and the back office. MacArthur will play Nick, "a burned-out and desperate veteran quarterback who gets recruited by The Los Angeles Rebels"; while Peck is set as Danny, "the team's newly-promoted general manager." Natalie Zea also stars in the project, which begins production this week. (TVLine.com)
SALEM (WGN/Fox 21; W: Adam Simon & Brannon Braga; D: Richard Shepard) - Janet Montgomery ("Made in Jersey") and Xander Berkeley ("Nikita") are the latest to board the drama series, which explores what really fueled the town's infamous witch trials and dares to uncover the dark, supernatural truth hiding behind the veil of this infamous period in American history. She'll play Mary Sibley, "the beautiful, ruthless and vulnerable at the same time wife of the ancient, ailing but very wealthy George Sibley, one of the Salem town Selectmen"; while he's set as Magistrate Hale, "one of the Salem's Selectmen, a company man who believes in pomp and circumstance." Ashley Madekwe and Seth Gabel also star. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED 33ANDOUT PRODUCTIONS PROJECT (A&E, New!) - Actor Channing Tatum is developing a reality series at the cable channel which "follows the entertainers of New Orleans burlesque club Saints and Sinners, which Tatum opened with friend and biz partner Keith Kurtz in 2012." Original Media's Charlie Corwin is also behind the project, which has a pilot commitment. Tatum and Kurtz will likewise executive produce via their 33andOut Productions banner. (Variety.com)
UNTITLED GABE MILLER/JONATHAN GREEN PROJECTS (CBS/NBC, New!) - "The Office" alums Gabe Miller and Jonathan Green have sold a pair of single-camera comedies. First up is an untitled half-hour at CBS and Warner Bros. Television about "an intense lifestyle design expert who's figured out the perfect way to do everything except connect with people, and the free-spirited woman who falls for him." Then there's another untitled effort at NBC and Universal Television about "two young overachievers who reignite their childhood rivalry when they're both hired at the same HuffPo-esque website." Peter Traugott and Rachel Kaplan of TBD Entertainment are also on board to executive produce the latter. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED LIZ FELDMAN PROJECT (NBC, New!) - Liz Feldman ("2 Broke Girls") has sold a multi-camera comedy to the Peacock about "a lesbian and her straight male best friend who get pregnant just as he meets and marries the love of his life." Ellen DeGeneres and Jeff Kleeman will likewise executive produce the half-hour via their Warner Bros. Television-based A Very Good Production. (Deadline.com)
