Development Update: Friday, December 6
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

LOWDOWN (E!, New!) - Adam Zwar and Amanda Brotchie are looking to import their Australian comedy series - about "a celebrity journalist and his dysfunctional relationships with his ex-girlfriend, editor and celebrity subjects" - at the cable channel. Universal Cable Productions-based Hypnotic is behind the project, with Dave Bartis, Doug Liman and Nicole Minchin executive producing alongside High Wire Films' Zwar and Brotchie. Gene Klein will co-executive produce. (THR.com)

YOUNGER (TV Land; W: Darren Star; D: TBA) - Sutton Foster ("Bunheads") has scored the lead role on the comedy pilot, about a suddenly-single New Jersey housewife and mother in her early 40s who, unable to restart her career, decides to lie about her age and successfully passes herself off as a twentysomething. Armed with a makeover and new resume, she wins a coveted position at the city's hottest publishing company. Pretending to be "younger" doesn't hurt in the bar scene, either, as guys line up like never before. Darren Star is behind the half-hour, which is based on Pamela Redmond Satran's novel of the same name. (THR.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Drew Goddard has formally been tapped to write and direct the pilot for Netflix's "Daredevil" (Marvel.com); Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld's Red Hour Films has inked a multi-year overall deal with Legendary Television, ending its run at ABC Studios (Deadline.com); former AMC executive Christina Wayne's Assembly Entertainment likewise has set up shop at Endemol Studios (Deadline.com); husband-and-wife duo John Ross Bowie and Jamie Denbo will recur on NBC's "About a Boy" as "a married couple and business partners in an organic toy company, who hire Fiona (Minnie Driver) to work with them" (Deadline.com);

Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller are spearheading a potential "Terminator" TV series based on the upcoming new film trilogy from Skydance Productions and Annapurna Pictures (Deadline.com); "Entourage" creator Doug Ellin has inked a three-year overall deal with CBS Television Studios (Deadline.com); Jon Tenney is bound for "Scandal" as "a rumored love interest for Bellamy Young's love-starved FLOTUS" (TVLine.com); and XBox Entertainment Studios is closing in on a series order for a new single-camera comedy from writer Ian Edelman and executive producer Rob Drydek about "four racially diverse, ex pro skaters living together in a Los Angeles" (Deadline.com).
