AMERICAN DREAM (WGN America, New!) - Wayne Beach (Slow Burn) is developing a new drama at the network which "chronicles the cat-and-mouse game that erupts when a Manhattan homicide cop suspects one of America's top CEOs of being a killer." Sony Pictures Television is behind the hour with the studio-based David Shore executive producing alongside Rick Berg. Beach will serve as a co-executive producer. (Deadline.com)

AMERICAN STORAGE (IFC; W: Andrew Jay Cohen & Brendan O'Brien; D: Andrew Jay Cohen) - Rob Huebel ("Childrens Hospital") and newcomer John Karna have snagged the lead roles on the comedy pilot, about the unlikely friendship between a storage facility employee and a man who takes up residence in one of the empty units. They'll succeed Steve Carell and David Krumholtz from the original short film that spawned the series. Troy Miller of Dakota Pictures also serves as an executive producer. (Deadline.com)

THE BASTARD EXECUTIONER (FX, New!) - Kurt Sutter ("Sons of Anarchy") has scored a pilot order from the cable channel for a period drama about "a warrior knight in King Edward III's charge who is broken by the ravages of war and vows to lay down his sword. But when that violence finds him again he is forced to pick up the bloodiest sword of all." Said effort comes from FX Productions and Fox 21 with Imagine Television's Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo also on board to executive produce. Filming of the pilot is slated to begin late next year after "Anarchy" wraps its upcoming seventh and final season. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Starz has pulled out of licensing the U.K. drama "Fortitude" over "a possibility that [producers] could not meet the delivery dates needed" for a fourth quarter launch next year (Deadline.com); ABC has picked up four more episodes of its Friday hit "Shark Tank," bringing its season total to 28 episodes (THR.com); Showtime has formally passed on its Kyle Chandler-led drama pilot "The Vatican" from writer Paul Attanasio and director Ridley Scott (Deadline.com); AJ Michalka will guest on "The Goldbergs" as "Erica's new wild-child best friend who is not the greatest influence" (TVLine.com); Eddie Matos is set to recur on "Hart of Dixie" as "the gorgeous Latino driver for Grandma Bettie Breeland (Maree Cheatham), who is saving money to attend poetry school" (THR.com); Portia de Rossi has scored a three-episode arc on "Sean Saves the World" as "Sean's smart, high-powered ex-wife who re-enters his life" (EW.com); and Prince is set to appear as himself in the post-Super Bowl episode of "New Girl" (EOnline.com).
