Two-Hour Special Will Highlight Program's Comedic Achievements Since 2009 Premiere

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - Dec. 18, 2013 - NBC has announced it has scheduled the "Best of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Primetime Special" for Sunday, Jan. 5 (9-11 p.m. ET/PT).

The program will consist of highlights from the five years that "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" has been on the air. The show launched March 2, 2009.

Backed by the house band the Roots, Fallon has interviewed and performed with some of the top names in entertainment and politics, including First Lady Michelle Obama, Tom Cruise, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Miley Cyrus and Justin Timberlake. His comedic sketches have often become viral video phenomenons. The "Late Night" parodies of such shows as "Breaking Bad," "Game of Thrones," "The Real Housewives" franchise, "Jersey Shore" and "Downton Abbey" have been seen by millions around the world.

So far this season, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" is averaging a 0.6 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49 and 2.0 million viewers overall, and is delivering bigger audiences than CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and ABC's "Nightline" in every key ratings measure. Fallon is delivering his biggest 18-49 audience and biggest overall audience at this point in the season in any of his five years hosting "Late Night." Versus one year ago, "Late Night" is up 21% in 18-49 viewers (804,000 vs. 665,000) and up 18% in total viewers (2.0 million vs. 1.7 million).

"The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" is set to launch Monday, Feb. 17 following NBC's coverage of the Winter Olympics.
