"KLONDIKE" THEMED EPISODE OF DISCOVERY CHANNEL'S "THE DIRT" TO AIR MONDAY, JANUARY 20 AT 7PM

Actors from Discovery's Mini Series Klondike, Including Richard Madden, to Appear with Gold Rush Gold Miners on THE DIRT

A special Klondike-themed episode of the Discovery Channel's THE DIRT, the popular pre-show to the channel's #1 series Gold Rush, will explore the connection between the 19th century Klondike gold rush and those of modern day gold miners and their crews who still seek glory and fortune in and out of the Klondike. This special episode of THE DIRT, featuring actors from Discovery's first ever mini-series, Klondike, and Gold Rush gold miners premieres Monday, Jan. 20 at 7PM ET/PT.

Klondike premieres on Discovery Monday, Jan. 20 at 9 PM ET/PT, followed by part two Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 9 PM ET/PT and part three Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 9PM ET/PT.

Hosted by Christo Doyle, who also serves as Executive Producer of Gold Rush, this Klondike episode of THE DIRT will feature interviews with key characters from Klondike, including Richard Madden (Game of Thrones), Abbie Cornish (Sucker Punch, Limitless), Johnny Simmons (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) and Conor Leslie (Chained) as well as the Gold Rush gold miners, including Parker Schnabel, "Dakota" Fred Hurt and Dustin Hurt.

Additionally, Klondike executive producer Dolores Gavin, director Simon Cellan Jones and production designer Ken Rempel who helped recreate the Canadian boomtown of Dawson City, will provide an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Discovery's Klondike, as well as a sneak peek from that night's Gold Rush.

For seven weeks in a row, Discovery Channel has had the top three Friday programs among men in cable, including THE DIRT. Gold Rush has been the #1 Friday cable program for the last nine weeks, no exclusions, and the #1 program in Men 18-49 delivery in all of television*, including both cable and broadcast. On Jan. 3, THE DIRT was the #3 non-sports cable program among both Men 25-54 and Men 18-49 delivery and earned a 1.25 HH/1.06 P25-54 rating with 1.79 million total viewers P2+.

Based on actual events, Klondike tells the story of the last great Gold Rush in history. In 1897 two friends make the perilous journey through North American wilderness to the Klondike boom town Dawson City, "The Paris of the North" where murder, revenge, riches and redemption await. From Executive Producer Ridley Scott, starring Richard Madden, Abbie Cornish, Sam Shepard and Tim Roth, among others.

*Excluding sports.
