HANK AZARIA JOINS THE HIT SHOWTIME(R) DRAMA "RAY DONOVAN"
ACCLAIMED ACTRESS SHERILYN FENN ALSO SET FOR THE SERIES' SECOND SEASON
NEW YORK, NY - (February 5, 2014) - Emmy(R)-winning actor Hank Azaria and acclaimed actress Sherilyn Fenn will guest star in the second season of the hit SHOWTIME drama series RAY DONOVAN in multi-episode arcs. Azaria will play a major role this season as James Cochran, the ambitious head honcho of the Los Angeles FBI who becomes a thorn in Ray's (Emmy and Golden Globe(R) Award nominee Liev Schreiber) side. In a recurring role, Fenn will play his frumpy wife, Holly Cochran. Production on the second season's 12 episodes is currently underway in Los Angeles and is set for a summer premiere on SHOWTIME.
RAY DONOVAN marks Hank Azaria's return to SHOWTIME after his Emmy and SAG Award-nominated starring role in the critically-acclaimed drama series HUFF, which he also executive produced. A Tony(R) Award nominee and four-time Emmy Award winner, Azaria is a multifaceted performer in film, television and on stage, as well as a respected director and comedian. He recently starred in Lovelace and reprised his role as Gargamel in The Smurfs 2. Other notable film credits include Love and Other Drugs, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, Year One, Quiz Show, Godzilla; Great Expectations, Cradle Will Rock; Celebrity; America's Sweethearts, and Shattered Glass. Azaria played the scene-stealing Guatemalan housekeeper Agador Spartacus in Mike Nichols' The Birdcage. He also starred in the television film Tuesdays With Morrie, and took home an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie. As a vocal artist, Azaria is highly-regarded, with more than 20 years as a principal voice actor on The Simpsons. He also earned Emmy Award nominations for his guest-starring roles on Friends and Mad About You. This year, he created the documentary web series Fatherhood for AOL and mom.me, which follows him as he interviews his friends and colleagues about their experiences as fathers and his own journey to becoming a father.
Also returning to SHOWTIME, Sherilyn Fenn previously starred in the network's comedy series Rude Awakening. She is best known to TV audiences for her Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated role as Audrey Horne in the critically-acclaimed, award-winning series Twin Peaks. She has had memorable roles in Dawson's Creek, Gilmore Girls, Law & Order: SVU and starred in the miniseries Liz: The Elizabeth Taylor Story. Her feature film credits include Just One of The Guys, Boxing Helena, Two Moon Junction, Wild at Heart, Of Mice and Men, Diary of a Hitman and Three of Hearts.
Set in the sprawling mecca of the rich and famous, RAY DONOVAN stars Schreiber as LA's best professional fixer, the man called in to make the city's celebrities, superstar athletes, and business moguls' most complicated and combustible situations go away. This powerful drama unfolds when his father, Mickey Donovan, played by Jon Voight in his Golden Globe-winning role, is unexpectedly released from prison, setting off a chain of events that shakes the Donovan family to its core. The cast also includes Paula Malcomson, Eddie Marsan, Dash Mihok, Steven Bauer, Katherine Moennig, Pooch Hall, Kerris Dorsey and Devon Bagby. RAY DONOVAN ranks as the highest-rated freshman series ever on SHOWTIME, averaging 5.7 million viewers per week, outpacing HOMELAND's freshman season by 31 percent.
