"Live with Kelly and Michael" Announces Fifth Annual "Top Teacher Week"
The series will honor teachers from across the country for making their schools better, and for their service and commitment to their students and communities.

Educators from Across the Country to be Honored on "LIVE" The Week of May 12-16, 2014

NEW YORK, NY - March 5, 2014 - This morning on "LIVE with Kelly and Michael," hosts Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan announced "LIVE's" fifth annual "Top Teacher Week." Each day during the week of May 12-16, 2014, "LIVE" will honor teachers from across the country for making their schools better, and for their service and commitment to their students and communities.

Last year, special education teacher Suzette Steward from Cinco Ranch Junior High School in Katy, Texas, was voted the overall 2013 Top Teacher by "LIVE's" viewers. Steward, a dedicated teacher in and out of the classroom, was nominated by a school parent, who wrote, "There is not minute of her life that she is not working or helping the Katy kids." Steward captured the hearts of the "LIVE" audience, and took home a brand-new 2014 Ford Escape, as well as a $25,000 check for Cinco Ranch Junior High School, courtesy of the Hillshire Brands Company.

"LIVE's" viewers can nominate teachers on the show's website or Facebook page. Teachers can be nominated from their communities as individuals or in groups, and submissions must include the teacher's name, the name of the school where he or she works, and, most important, what makes that teacher so unique and special. All teachers are eligible, from public or private schools, from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. The deadline for submission is April 21, 2014. From the submission pool, 10 teachers will be selected as semi-finalists and announced during the week of April 21. Viewers will vote for their favorites, and the five teachers with the most votes will be showcased during the week of May 12. The educator chosen as the 2014 Top Teacher will be announced the week of May 19.
