New York, NY - (March 6, 2014) - On the heels of the "MTV Movie Awards" nominations, MTV today announced that it will premiere pop sensation Ellie Goulding's new music video "Beating Heart" from the new action adventure film "Divergent" starring Shailene Woodley and Theo James during MTV First: Divergent Beating Heart. MTV News host Christina Garibaldi will sit down in studio with Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Ellie Goulding for the worldwide premiere on Tuesday, March 11 at 7:53 p.m. ET. Immediately following the premiere, the conversation will continue online at 8:00 p.m.ET on MTV.com. "Divergent" will be released in theatres and IMAX nationwide by Summit Entertainment, a LIONSGATE company, on Friday, March 21.

In celebration of the worldwide premiere, AMTV and MTV Hits will feature Ellie Goulding artist collection blocks throughout the day. After its on-air debut on MTV, "Beating Heart" will go into rotation immediately on AMTV, MTV2, MTV Hits and mtvu. The video will also be available exclusively for 24 hours on MTV.com.

UK singer/ songwriter Ellie Goulding is a global superstar selling over 5 million albums and 15 million songs worldwide with platinum records in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, Italy and Malaysia. Official videos have been viewed over 400 million online. Goulding's debut album, Lights was the best-selling debut album of 2010 in the UK and has spawned several singles including the title track which sold over 5 million copies worldwide. In 2012, Goulding returned with her sophomore album, Halcyon, which was described by The New York Times as "a deeply felt swirl of synthesizer, piano and slowly building crescendos." "Divergent" is an action-adventure film set in a world where people are divided into distinct factions based on human virtues. When she discovers a conspiracy by a faction leader (Kate Winslet) to destroy all Divergents, Tris must learn to trust in the mysterious Four (Theo James) and together they must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it's too late.
