DUTY (Comedy Central, New!) - Matthew Libman and Daniel Libman ("Happy Endings") have scored a pilot order from the cable channel for a new comedy about Kyle (Mike O'Gorman), "a former football star who loses everything and is forced to start anew by moving back to his hometown and taking a job on the local police force opposite his childhood best friend Lonnie (Gil Ozeri)." Sony Pictures Television is behind the half-hour with fellow "Happy Endings" alums David Caspe of Shark vs. Bear Productions and Jamie Tarses of FanFare Productions executive producing and the Libmans as co-executive producers. Also starring is Laura Steinel as Jamie, Kyle's old flame. (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - ABC has pushed the previously announced premiere of "The Astronaut Wives Club" from July 24 to midseason due to an expanding for the project (Deadline.com); Niko Nicotera and David Labrava have been upped to series regulars on "Sons of Anarchy" (Deadline.com); John David Coles has been tapped as an executive producer/in-house director for "House of Cards" (Deadline.com); Nickelodeon's "Sam & Cat" has been put on "permanent hiatus" a few episodes early (Deadline.com); HBO mainstay David Milch has extended his overall deal for another two years (Deadline.com); Jill Blotevogel has penned the pilot for MTV's small screen take on Wes Craven's "Scream" (TVLine.com); and Eddie McClintock will drop by the season finale of "Castle" as "a small town hustler who is infamous for his lying, cheating and scheming" (TVLine.com).
