Only on Netflix: A New Spanish Language Original Comedy Series Set in the World of Futbol from Mexican Hitmaker Gaz Alazraki

The director, producer and star of one of the most popular Mexican films of all time, "We Are the Nobles," reunite for Netflix

Filmed entirely in Mexico, the series will be directed by Gaz Alazraki and features Luis Gerardo Mendez

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., April 23, 2014 -- Netflix, the world's leading Internet television network, announced today its first Spanish-language original series, a comedy from director Gaz Alazraki that reunites the team that made Nosotros los Nobles, one of the most successful Mexican box office hits of all time.

The 13-episode series from Alazraki Entertainment is set to premiere in 2015 and centers on a family feud among heirs of a soccer club after the owner's death. Shooting entirely in Mexico and featuring a cast from all over Latin America, including Nobles star Luis Gerardo Mendez, the series offers a satirical, highly entertaining look into the world of professional futbol.

"We formed a very special team for We Are the Nobles, and we all knew we wanted to keep working together. When I told the team that Netflix was interested in producing the show, the excitement was contagious since there's nobody cooler and more innovative in this day and age than Netflix," said Gaz Alazraki.

"We're thrilled to be working with the talent from We Are the Nobles, a movie that managed to capture a cultural phenomenon in a fun and engaging way, while also breaking box office records. Gaz has the disruptive vision and creative storytelling we were looking for in producing our first original series in Mexico," said Ted Sarandos, Netflix Chief Content Officer. "We're confident our members in a market as important to us as Mexico and Latin America will love this family comedy."

Produced by Gaz Alazraki, Leo Zimbron and Mike Lam, the story was created by Mike Lam and will be directed by Gaz Alazraki.

Luis Gerardo Mendez has also appeared in plays such as No se si cortarme las venas o dejarmelas largas, El curioso caso del perro a media noche and Avenida Q, as well as television series such as XY, La Clínica and Capadocia.
