ABC on Track to Renew "The Goldbergs" for a Second Season

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- A second season of "The Goldbergs" appears to be on the horizon at ABC.
In addition to quietly commissioning an additional episode (bringing its season total to 23), we're now told repeats of the series will bookended "Modern Family" this summer.
Beginning Wednesday, May 28, look for installments at 8:30/7:30c and 9:30/8:30c with "The Middle" at 8:00/7:00c, "Modern Family" at 9:00/8:00c and the new season of "Motive" at 10:00/9:00c. Said lineup will continue through at least June 11.
With such little real estate devoted to repeats during the summer months as of late, giving "Goldbergs" not one but two slots is definitely a solid omen for its return.
Case in point: ABC will devote "The Goldbergs'" current Tuesday, 9:00/8:00c home to a new season of "Extreme Weight Loss" beginning May 27.
