AMERICAN HEROES CHANNEL ANNOUNCES AHC FILMS, A NEW PROGRAMMING DESTINATION FOR NON-FICTION DOCUMENTARY FILMS

-- AHC FILMS Launches with Critically-Acclaimed Film CHOSIN, Premiering Monday, May 26 at 9/8c -

(Silver Spring, MD) -American Heroes Channel (AHC) announced today the launch of AHC FILMS, a new outlet for independent non-fiction filmmakers seeking a television home for documentary projects. AHC FILMS will offer a diverse portfolio of projects, celebrating a wide range of heroes through uplifting and engaging films dedicated to powerful stories of the men and women who have shaped the world we live in today. Making its debut on Memorial Day, AHC FILMS will kick off with the GI Film Festival Best Documentary Feature CHOSIN by filmmakers Brian Iglesias and Anton Sattler. Premiering on Monday, May 26 at 9/8c, CHOSIN recounts the riveting story of the survivors of the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir in the Korean War.

"AHC FILMS is our way to step back and examine the nation's critical moments - providing viewers with a unique, in-depth perspective, and a contemporary angle on stories you may or may not know," said Kevin Bennett, executive vice president and general manager, American Heroes Channel. "We are proud to kick off AHC FILMS with the critically-acclaimed documentary, CHOSIN, giving viewers an amazing, first-person account about an historic battle, and shining a light on the true meaning of honor and solidarity."

As one of the early conflicts in the Korean War, the Battle of Chosin is known as one of the seminal skirmishes of the Marine Corps' proud history. The brutal combat lasted seventeen days in subfreezing temperatures amongst rugged terrain clashing 15,000 U.S Marine soldiers with 67,000 Chinese troops. Created by filmmakers Iglesias and Sattler, whom themselves served in the U.S Marine Corps during the Iraq War, CHOSIN breaks a sixty-year silence from the surviving "Chosin Few," recounting one of the most savage, yet monumental battles in American history.

CHOSIN released in 2010, earned the Best Documentary Feature at the G.I Film Festival, and was also awarded Best Documentary Feature from the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation in 2013 along with other notable recognitions.

AHC FILMS: CHOSIN premieres on Monday, May 26 at 9/8c.

CHOSIN was directed by Brian Iglesias and co-produced by Brian Iglesias and Anton Sattler. For American Heroes Channel, Ron Simon is executive producer; Sara Kozak is senior vice president of production; Kevin Bennett is General Manager; and Henry Schleiff is Group President of Investigation Discovery, Destination America, American Heroes Channel, and Discovery Fit & Health.
