JUDGE JUDY SHEINDLIN COMES TO PRIMETIME IN A ONE-HOUR SPECIAL, "JUDGE JUDY PRIMETIME," TO BE BROADCAST TUESDAY, MAY 20

Show Features Brand New Cases and Looks at How Judge Judy Sheindlin Went from Family Court Judge to Pop Culture Icon

JUDGE JUDY PRIMETIME, a one-hour primetime special for the CBS Television Network that includes new cases and takes a look at how Judge Judith Sheindlin transitioned from New York Family Court Judge to "Judge Judy," will be broadcast Tuesday, May 20 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Judge Sheindlin's no-nonsense, tough but fair approach to justice has established her as a pop culture icon for generations of viewers around the globe as the #1-rated daytime program in the U.S.

In each case, Judge Sheindlin applies her unique ability to act as a true moral compass and her uncanny ability to ferret out the truth. Also highlighted are classic Judyisms, her hilarious one-liners that have become part of America's lexicon, parodied from "Saturday Night Live" to "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

In addition, the special will include excerpts from the 1993 60 MINUTES profile on Judge Sheindlin that led to her being discovered by Hollywood, as well as from the 2003 story when the program revisited the Judge 10 years later.

Judge Sheindlin's syndicated, Emmy Award-winning daily daytime series, "Judge Judy," has been the #1 show in first-run syndication for the last three years and #1 in daytime for four consecutive seasons. It has been the #1 courtroom program in the country since its inception on Sept. 16, 1996 (917 consecutive weeks) and is a world-wide hit, licensed in more than 125 markets around the world.

JUDGE JUDY PRIMETIME is produced by CBS Television Distribution and Queen Bee Productions. Randy Douthit is the executive producer and director.
