GRACE & FRANKIE (Netflix; W: Howard J. Morris & Marta Kaufman; D: Tate Taylor) - June Diane Raphael and Baron Vaughn have both scored roles on the comedy series, which focuses on nemeses Grace (Jane Fonda) and Frankie (Lily Tomlin) facing the last chapter of their lives, though not in the way they expected. When their husbands (Martin Sheen, Sam Waterston) announce they are in love with each other and plan to get married, the women find their lives both turned upside down and to their dismay, permanently intertwined. Raphael will play Brianna, "the older daughter of Grace and Robert, who rebels against Grace's emphasis on appearances and decorum, but despite her keen awareness of who she's not, she struggles to define who she is"; while Vaughn is set as Nwabudike, "or 'Bud,' as he prefers to be called, Frankie and Sol's son. Adopted at a young age from Uganda, Bud identifies more as an American Jew than an African man. He works at his father's law firm, keeps kosher, and often finds himself in the position of perpetual peacekeeper." (Deadline.com)
MAD DOGS (Amazon, New!) - Cris Cole's import of his U.K. thriller - which follows the reunion of four forty-something guys who head to Belize to visit their old school friend, when things take an unexpected and dark turn - has found a new home at Amazon where it has received a pilot order. Originally put into development at FX last year, said effort comes from Sony Pictures Television and Shawn Ryan's studio-based MiddKid Productions. Charles McDougall in on board to direct from a script by Cole with Ryan likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)
MARVEL'S DAREDEVIL (Netflix/ABC Studios; W/D: Drew Goddard) - Deborah Ann Woll ("True Blood") is the latest addition to the drama series, which stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, who fights against injustice by day as a lawyer and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell's Kitchen, New York City. She's set as Karen Page, the titular hero's longest-running love interest from the comics. Elden Henson, Peter Shinkoda, Rosario Dawson and Vincent D'Onofrio also star. (@stevendeknight)
