BERNADETTE PETERS TO GUEST STAR IN BRAVO MEDIA'S "GIRLFRIENDS' GUIDE TO DIVORCE"

NEW YORK - July 21, 2014 - Three time Tony Award-winning actress Bernadette Peters will guest star in an upcoming episode of Bravo Media's first original scripted series "Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce," from Universal Cable Productions (UCP). Peters will play Lyla's mother Annie, who comes to town to help her with the kids. "Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce," premiering Tuesday, December 2 at 10p.m. ET/PT, follows Abby (Lisa Edelstein, "House"), whose career and marriage implode in one very public moment and she finds herself turning to her new divorced friends Lyla (Janeane Garofalo, "Reality Bites") and Phoebe (Beau Garrett, "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior") as she navigates life back on the singles scene.

One of Broadway's most critically acclaimed performers, Bernadette Peters has won numerous accolades including three Tony Awards, a Golden Globe, two Grammy Awards, three Emmy nominations and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Peters is particularly noted for her starring roles in Broadway musicals, including "Follies," "A Little Night Music," "Song and Dance," "Sunday in the Park with George," "Into the Woods," "Annie Get Your Gun," "Gypsy," among many others. She has appeared on the following television series "Smash," "Grey's Anatomy," "Ugly Betty," "Living Proof" and has lit up the silver screen in films including "Pennies From Heaven," "The Jerk," "The Longest Yard," "Silent Movie Annie," "Pink Cadillac," "Slaves of New York," "Alice," "Impromptu," "It Runs in the Family" and "Coming Up Roses." In addition to numerous Original Broadway Cast recordings, she has recorded six solo albums; including the Grammy nominated "Bernadette Peters Loves Rodgers & Hammerstein," "Sondheim, Etc: Bernadette Peters Live at Carnegie Hall" and "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight." Peters devotes her time and talents to numerous events that benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Her "pet project" Broadway Barks, co-founded with Mary Tyler Moore, is an annual, star-studded dog and cat adoption event that benefits shelter animals throughout the New York City area. She has also written two children's books "Broadway Barks," a New York Times bestseller and "Stella is a Star," which feature original songs written and performed by Peters. Her third children's book, for Blue Apple Books, will be published in Spring 2015. All of her proceeds from the sales of her books benefit Broadway Barks.

"Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce," inspired by the "Girlfriends' Guide" books by Vicki Iovine, follows Abby, a self-help book author and guru of all things family who shocks the world when she reveals that her seemingly perfect life has been a lie. After inadvertently publicly admitting that she has separated from her husband, Jake (Paul Adelstein, "Private Practice"), America's once-favorite girlfriend finds her career and marriage in a free fall. Abby turns to her new divorced friends including Lyla, a legendary no-nonsense entertainment lawyer who is in a constant 'War of the Roses' battle with her ex-husband and Phoebe, a former model and budding entrepreneur who has a very unique relationship with her ex. Meanwhile, a rival attorney at Lyla's firm, Delia (Necar Zadegan, "Emily Owens, MD"), is hired as Abby's divorce attorney. Laverne Cox ("Orange is the New Black") will also guest star in an upcoming episode as Adele Northrop, a Pulitzer-Prize winning war journalist and LGBT activist who presents an award at a marriage equality gala. Marti Noxon, Vicki Iovine, Meryl Poster, Robert Duncan McNeill, and Liz Kruger and Craig Shapiro serve as Executive Producers.
