MAYIM BIALIK TO HOST TV LAND'S "CANDID CAMERA" REBOOT, PREMIERING AUGUST 11th

THE CAMERAS ARE OUT THERE - THE SHOW RETURNS WITH NEW GAGS FOR A NEW GENERATION

New York, NY - July 24, 2014 - TV Land announced today that Emmy(R) Award nominee Mayim Bialik ("The Big Bang Theory") will host TV Land's new original version of "Candid Camera" alongside executive producer and long-time host Peter Funt, son of the show's creator and first host, Allen Funt. The series will premiere on TV Land on Monday, August 11th at 8pm, with original episodes also airing Tuesday, August 12th; Wednesday, August 13th; and Thursday, August 14th at 8pm. "Candid Camera" will begin airing in its regular time slot on Tuesdays at 8pm on August 19th. Encore episodes can be seen throughout the week at 8pm.

"I am very excited to be working with TV Land, Electus, and the legendary Peter Funt on the newest incarnation of the original feel good reality show, 'Candid Camera,'" said Bialik. "Since I was a child, I have found it impossible to not smile when I hear, 'Smile! You're on Candid Camera!' and I am honored and tickled pink to get to be a part of this amazing franchise."

"We are thrilled to have Mayim on board as host as we re-launch 'Candid Camera,' the original reality show," said Larry W. Jones, President of TV Land. "Fans old and new alike will love this fresh version, and we look forward to Mayim bringing her unique sense of humor to the show."

Be on the lookout for the cameras! "Candid Camera's" crew is all over the country taping now, having already visited cities such as Chicago, IL and Norwalk, CT, and even The Big Apple, where actress Megan Hilty ("Smash") and Hot 97 DJ Peter Rosenberg helped pull gags on unsuspecting New Yorkers and delivering the iconic line, "Smile, you're on 'Candid Camera!'"

Before reality television even had a name, the original series introduced the hidden camera concept to television in 1948, and "Candid Camera" continued in several iterations over the course of more than 50 years. The landmark series concealed cameras to capture the reactions of ordinary people being confronted with unusual and often challenging situations. On August 11th, after influencing generations of television programs, the gold standard returns.

Ben Silverman, Founder and Chairman of Electus explained, "Mayim Bialik is a brilliant talent who immediately updates our 21st century reboot of 'Candid Camera' with her unique point of view and comedic style. I'm excited to see the big bang she brings to our show and TV Land." And Peter Funt added, "Mayim and I both grew up on and around television, so it's great that on the new show, we're together again for the very first time. She brings humor and insight to our show, which has always been the perfect formula for 'Candid Camera.'"

Ben Silverman's multimedia studio Electus and Peter Funt's Candid Camera, Inc. are co-producing the series, with Funt and Silverman serving as executive producers. Larry W. Jones and Keith Cox will serve as executive producers for TV Land. The package was handled by Mark Itkin of William Morris Endeavor.
