Nevada-Pennsylvania Delivers Highest-Rated Little League World Series Telecast Ever on ESPN with Record 3.4

Wednesday's Little League World Series telecast, in which Las Vegas, Nevada defeated Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 8-1 to advance to the United States Championship game - delivered a record 3.4 overnight rating, making it the highest-rated Little League World Series telecast ever on ESPN, according to Nielsen.

The 3.4 rating is up 143 percent from last year's corresponding game between California and Connecticut, which drew a 1.4.

Local records

The record telecast, which saw star pitcher Mo'ne Davis start for Pennsylvania, delivered a 16.3 rating in Las Vegas and a 14.9 rating in Philadelphia, both records for Little League World Series telecasts in those markets.

Little League World Series continues on ESPN

The 2014 Little League World Series presented by Kellogg's Frosted Flakes continues today - Thursday, Aug. 21 - with two final games to determine which teams will advance to the championship games. Mexico and defending champion Japan will face off at 3 p.m. ET while Philadelphia and Chicago will meet at 7:30 p.m. Both games will be televised by ESPN and available on computers, smartphones, tablets, Xbox, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV and Roku via WatchESPN. The Little League World Series concludes over the weekend on ABC with the International Championship game (Saturday, Aug. 23, 12:30 p.m.), the United States Championship game (Saturday, 3:30 p.m.) and the World Series Championship (Sunday, Aug. 24, 3 p.m.)

Note: If Philadelphia wins their game against Chicago tonight, Mo'ne Davis will be eligible to pitch on Saturday in a rematch against Las Vegas.

Wednesday's Little League World Series telecast, in which Las Vegas, Nev. defeated Philadelphia, Pa. 8-1 to advance to the United States Championship game - delivered ESPN's largest audience ever for a Little League World Series game with an average of nearly five million viewers (4,988,000) P2+, according to Nielsen. The telecast peaked between 8:30-8:45 p.m. ET with 5,585,000 viewers.

Wednesday's telecast saw a viewership increase of 155 percent compared to last year's comparable game, between Chula Vista, Calif. and Westport, Conn.

The Las Vegas, Nev. versus Philadelphia, Pa. telecast finished with a 3.1 U.S. household rating, which is the highest-rated Little League World Series game ever on ESPN. The success of Las Vegas, Nev. versus Philadelphia, Pa. helped propel ESPN to win the night across all of television (cable and broadcast) in multiple male demos, including M12-17 and M25-54.

The previous viewership record for a Little League World Series game on ESPN was set on August 23, 2001, when an average of 3,322,000 viewers tuned in to see Oceanside, Calif. versus Bronx, N.Y.
