KELLY RIPA AND MICHAEL STRAHAN TAKE ON THEIR WILDEST CHALLENGE YET

"LIVE with Kelly and Michael's" Tough Mudder Challenge Will Air on September 5, 2014

"LIVE" Hosts Will Go Head-to-Head With Singers Nick Carter and Jordan Knight

NEW YORK, NY - September 3, 2014 - On Friday, September 5, 2014, Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan will take on their wildest physical challenge yet, as they tackle a grueling custom Tough Mudder course on "LIVE with Kelly and Michael." Going head-to-head with the hosts will be two special guests: singers Nick Carter and Jordan Knight.

Carter and Knight, formerly of Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block, have teamed up on a hot new album as Nick & Knight, and the duo now will put their teamwork to the test by competing against Ripa and Strahan on a hardcore course of obstacles winding in and out of the "LIVE with Kelly and Michael" studio. Rounding out Team LIVE will be executive producer Michael Gelman, and Team Nick & Knight will be joined by Tough Mudder's VP Alex Patterson.

Ice! Fire! Mud! They'll encounter them all in the ultimate test of endurance, fitness and teamwork. The obstacles will include:

Balls to the Wall: This monster of an obstacle will have them scaling a wall three and a half meters high, using only a muddy rope and sheer strength. Once they reach the top, they then will descend, backwards, by using a rope on the other side.

Boa Constrictor: They'll crawl and squeeze their way through a series of pipes that form dark, tight tunnels.

Funky Monkey: Both teams will need an iron grip for these monkey bars. Greased with mud, these bars are on a steep incline upward for the first half of the obstacle and then descend downward for the second part.

Pyramid Scheme: This obstacle is all about working together to form a pyramid and lifting each other to the top of a slick, steep ramp.

Fire & Ice: This fiery challenge will test their grit and mental toughness as they jump over a wall of blazing heat. Just when they think their legs literally are toast, they'll land in a floating iceberg abyss, where they'll wade through the ice, swim under a wooden plank, and pull themselves out on the other end.

Kiss of Mud: And for the grand finale, Team LIVE and Team Nick & Knight will belly-crawl commando-style through mud to avoid getting snagged by the barbed wire above.
