STARZ, ENCORE AND ENCORE ESPAÑOL TO AIR STAR-STUDDED TELECAST "STAND UP TO CANCER" LIVE ON SEPTEMBER 5

ENCORE ESPAÑOL to Air the Live, One-Hour Fundraising Event with Spanish Closed Captioning

Beverly Hills, Calif., September 3, 2014 - The stars will align on STARZ, ENCORE and ENCORE ESPAÑOL when "Stand Up To Cancer" (SU2C) returns to primetime television during a one-hour telecast on Friday, September 5 at 8:00 pm ET/PT. ENCORE ESPAÑOL will carry the fundraising event with Spanish closed captioning.

Building on three historic fundraising telecasts in 2008, 2010 and 2012, this year's Stand Up To Cancer special will feature performances from top recording artists and celebrities from film and television, engaging viewers with powerful stories of remarkable progress being made by SU2C-funded research. Emmy(R)-winning producer Joel Gallen, president of Tenth Planet Productions, and Oscar(R)-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow are returning for the second time as executive producers of the special.

During the live broadcast from the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, celebrities will interact with viewers via social media in an on-stage digital lounge. Viewers may donate via a toll-free number, standup2cancer.org and text-to-give. One hundred percent of the donations received from the general public during the show go to support collaborative cancer research programs.

"Starz is proud to provide three channels to participate in this one-of-a-kind fundraising event featuring music, film and television celebrities who are all in this mission together to turn cancer patients into cancer survivors," said Chris Albrecht, CEO of Starz.

The first three "SU2C" telecasts took place on September 5, 2008, September 10, 2010 and September 7, 2012, and were made available to more than 190 countries. To date, more than $261 million has been pledged to support SU2C's innovative cancer research programs.
