Now in its third year, Manufacturing Day has grown exponentially to feature more than 1,000 manufacturers, educational institutions and other partners who will offer open houses, public tours, career workshops, and other activities to share the technology, ingenuity and innovation exemplified by American manufacturing. The event is co-produced by the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International (FMA), the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), The Manufacturing Institute, the National Institute of Standards and Technology's (NIST) Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), and Industrial Strength Marketing (ISM).

"Science Channel continues to prove it is a great friend to manufacturing in North America. Through programming like HOW IT'S MADE the network continues to inspire its millions of viewers by showing that manufacturing is fascinating, high-tech and offers the opportunity for a great career," said Ed Youdell, President and CEO of FMA. "With Science Channel's support, we have seen the popularity of Manufacturing Day grow from 240 events in 37 states in 2012 to nearly 1,200 events this year in manufacturing facilities in 48 states plus Puerto Rico and three Canadian provinces with an expected attendance of more than 50,000. Together, Science Channel and Manufacturing Day will continue to inform and inspire new audiences with a look behind the scenes of North American manufacturing."

"Science Channel is at its core the home for the engineer and the person who asks 'how' and 'why' things work, and HOW IT"S MADE is the network's stalwart franchise that allows audiences to see the power and science behind manufacturing," said Rita Mullin, general manager of Science Channel. "We are so proud to be partnered again with this national event and we hope that Manufacturing Day, along with our powerhouse HOW IT'S MADE marathon, will inspire others to take a fresh look at the manufacturing industry."

Also this year, Discovery Communications' 'Discover Your Skills' campaign, a public affairs job skills program, will continue it's partnership with Montgomery College focused on preparing students with the necessary skills to take advantage of available job opportunities. The effort highlights career opportunities in modern-day manufacturing, and the importance of training workers to fill critical jobs in manufacturing, health care, energy, technology, construction and other industries. Manufacturing Day is an opportunity for Montgomery College students to get a sense of modern manufacturing and a real world view of the exciting career paths STEM skills can lead to.

Through nearly 12 seasons millions of viewers have enjoyed learning how common products - such as toothpaste, hot sauce, pipes, luxury sports cars, rock climbing gear, whiskey, razor blades, telescopes, paper towels, alloy wheels, and many more - are manufactured in state-of-the-art factories across America and around the world.
