ROB REINER GETS A LITTLE "HAPPYISH": LEGENDARY COMEDIAN TO GUEST STAR ON NEW SHOWTIME(R) COMEDY SERIES
Premiering Sunday, April 26th At 9:30 PM ET/PT
LOS ANGELES, CA (March 10, 2015) - Comic legend Rob Reiner will guest star in two episodes of the highly anticipated new comedy series HAPPYish, premiering Sunday, April 26th at 9:30 pm ET/PT on SHOWTIME. Reiner, playing a version of himself, will work with Thom Payne (series star Steve Coogan) on an important ad campaign.
HAPPYish is a scathing examination of our pursuit of happiness, a pursuit that might just be the very thing causing our unhappiness in the first place. The new half-hour series stars Oscar(R) and Golden Globe(R) nominee Steve Coogan (Philomena, Alan Partridge), as Thom Payne, a 44 year-old man whose world is thrown into disarray when his 25 year-old "wunderkind" boss arrives, saying things like "digital," "social" and "viral." Is he in need of a "rebranding," as his mentor insists, or does he just have a "low joy ceiling," as his corporate headhunter suggests? Maybe pursuing happiness is a fool's errand? Maybe, after 44 years on this ludicrous planet, settling for happyish is the best one can expect. The series also stars acclaimed actress Kathryn Hahn (Revolutionary Road, We're The Millers) and Emmy(R) Award winner and Golden Globe nominee Bradley Whitford (The West Wing). Emmy and Tony(R) winner Ellen Barkin (The New Normal, Modern Family) guest stars, along with Emmy Award winner Carrie Preston (The Good Wife), Molly Price (Third Watch) and Andre Royo (The Wire). HAPPYish is created, written and executive produced by critically acclaimed author and regular This American Life contributor Shalom Auslander. Emmy Award nominee Ken Kwapis (He's Just Not That Into You, A Walk In The Woods) executive produces and directed the pilot. Kwapis' producing partner Alexandra Beattie co-executive produces under their In Cahoots banner.
