BOY IN THE SUITCASE, THE (Amazon, New!) - Lene Kaaberbol and Agnete Friis's Scandinavian mystery book series is being developed as a drama at the digital distributor. Kirsten Sheridan (In America) will pen the adaptation, which tells the story of "a naked, drugged but alive 3-year-old boy turns up in a suitcase in the Copenhagen train station rescued by a nurse tipped off by a disturbed friend who then disappears. At great cost to her family life, the nurse throws herself into protecting the boy, plunging the two into a dangerous journey - one she stubbornly insists on navigating alone. Borg's impulsive character creates as much trouble for her and the boy as the Eastern European mafia chasing them." City Entertainment's Joshua Maurer and Alixandre Witlin will also serve as executive producers. (Deadline.com)

NATCHEZ BURNING (Amazon, New!) - Greg Iles's latest novel likewise is being eyed as a TV series at Amazon Studios. David Hudgins ("Parenthood") will pen the two prospective scripts, about "race and murder in the Jim Crow South, features popular Iles character Penn Cage - the lawyer-turned-novelist who first appeared in the 1999 novel The Quiet Game." Sony Pictures Television is behind the project, with Material Pictures' Tobey Maguire and Matthew Plouffe also among the executive producers. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Ana Ayora has booked an arc on "Banshee" as "a smart, tough, streetwise deputy for the Banshee Sheriff's Department who really is an inside plant working for Kai Proctor (Ulrich Thomsen)" (Deadline.com); Mustafa Shakir has joined the cast of fellow Cinemax entry "Quarry" as Moses, who's billed as "intellectual, masculine and mysterious, he shifts from friend to foe at the flip of a coin" (Deadline.com); "The King of Queens" star Kevin James has inked a two-year first-look deal with Sony Pictures Television, which includes a sitcom that he would headline (Deadline.com);

Deborah Gregory's young adult book series "Catwalk" is being developed for TV by Jesse Collins Entertainment (Deadline.com); Anna George has been cast as Cece's (Hannah Simone) mother on "New Girl" (THR.com); Tom Amandes will visit "Revenge" as a yet-to-be-revealed character (TVLine.com); Dann Florek and Andre Braugher will both return to "Law & Order: SVU" for an upcoming episode in May (TVGuide.com); and Katie Couric and Michelle Pfeiffer are making the rounds with a potential TV series about "an anchor (played by Pfeiffer) not unlike the one once played in real life by Katie Couric" (Variety.com).
