BALIHOO (AMC, New!) - Brett Leonard is developing a new drama at the cable channel "inspired by the story of freak show/artist performer Johnny Eck who was missing the lower half of his torso." Joey Rappa and Caroline Thompson also serve as executive producers. (Deadline.com)
CASANOVA (Amazon; W: Stu Zicherman; D: Jean-Pierre Jeunet) - Diego Luna, Bojana Novakovic, Miranda Richardson, Ben Daniels and Amelia Clarkson have all been cast in while Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amelie) has signed on to direct the drama pilot, which chronicles a little-known period in the life of one of world history's most famous libertines and playboys, Giacomo Casanova. Luna will play said role with Novakovic as the famous French royal mistress Madame de Pompadour; Richardson as Marquise d'Urfé; Daniels as Francois-Joachim de Bernis; and Clarkson as Manon Balletti. Electus' Ben Silverman also serves as an executive producer with Sarah Caplan as a co-executive producer (Deadline.com)
DELIVER US FROM EVIL (AMC, New!) - Christian Torpe is shepherding a potential drama at the network about "a group of townspeople who grow tired of their small-town lives and decide to take down the local bully, who has been holding them hostage." No other auspices were given. (Deadline.com)
GOLIATH (AMC, New!) - Writer Dave Kajganich and director Sean Durkin are developing a new drama at the cable channel based on the book "The Autobiography of an Execution" by David R. Dow. Plan B Entertainment's DeDe Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner also serve as executive producers on the project, which had previously been set up at HBO. (Deadline.com)
LODGE 49 (AMC, New!) - Jim Gavin has sold a potential drama to the network about "a young knucklehead from Long Beach joins a dusty old fraternal lodge." Also serving as executive producers on the project are Paul Giamatti and Dan Carey (Deadline.com)
LOW RENT (AMC, New!) - Alex Fernie, Alex Berg and Todd Fasen have set up a potential comedy at the cable channel about "three small-time thieves decide they're ready to move into the big leagues. They're wrong." John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky are also among the executive producers. (Deadline.com)
SHADES OF BLUE (NBC/Universal; W: Adi Hasak; D: Barry Levinson) - Sarah Jeffery ("Rogue") has scored a role on the Jennifer Lopez-led drama, about a tight-knit crew of police officers who are effective at keeping the streets safe but also corrupt when it comes to lining their pockets and protecting their own. When one of the officers, Harlee Santos (Lopez), is forced to become a federal informant, she must decide between her own family's welfare and that of her police family. She'll play Lopez's daughter Christine, "a good girl who is starting to explore her own path." Drea de Matteo, Hampton Fluker, Ray Liotta, Vincent Laresca and Warren Kole also star. (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - AMC has passed on its Stephen Gaghan-helmed geopolitical drama pilot "White City" (Deadline.com); comedy "Sober Buddies" and dramas "Jerry's World" and "The Son" conversely remain under consideration at AMC (Deadline.com); Mamie Gummer will recur on "Manhattan" as "a beautiful, street-smart spy who is sent to the Hill as a liaison to Jim Meeks (Christopher Denham) and uses her charm and sexuality to pass atomic secrets to the Soviets" (Deadline.com); Peter Stormare has booked an arc on "Graceland" as "the Head of the Armenian Mafia who runs an international arms business" (THR.com); Annet Mahendru is bound for "The Following" as "the face of a larger evil Ryan will discover" (TVLine.com); and Jaeden Lieberher has been cast as Johnny, the son of Dr. William Masters (Michael Sheen), in "Masters of Sex" (Variety.com).
