HALF OF IT, THE (CBS/CBSP; W: Mike Gibbons; D: James Burrows) - Beth Hoyt has scored a role on the comedy pilot, about Mike (Jon Dore), a newly divorced dad who revels in the fact that he now gets to keep half his stuff, which is more than he ever had when he was married. She'll play Julie, "Mike's very best platonic friend and a true cheerleader in his new life." Andrea Anders, Christine Ko, David Del Rio and Morgan Krantz also star. (Deadline.com)

MARVEL'S AGENTS OF SHIELD (ABC) - Executive producer Jeffrey Bell and co-executive producer Paul Zbyszewski are spearheading a potential spin-off of the second-year series. No details were given about the project other than it will presumably feature some characters from the current series with the groundwork for its premise being laid out during the remaining episodes this season. (EW.com)

PREACHER (AMC/Sony; W: Sam Catlin; D: Evan Goldberg & Seth Rogen) - Lucy Griffiths ("True Blood") has been tapped for a role on the drama pilot, based on the comic book about Jesse Custer, a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do anything he says. Along with his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), the three embark on a journey to literally find God. She'll play Emily, "a no-nonsense single mother of three who is a waitress, the church organist, bookkeeper and Jesse's loyal right hand." Ian Colletti also stars. (Deadline.com)

UNDERGROUND (WGN America/Sony; W: Joe Pokaski & Misha Green; D: Anthony Hemingway) - Reed Diamond is the latest addition to the period drama, set in the pre-Civil War South and following the slaves who set foot on the fabled Underground Railroad, the secret network of men and women who risked their lives aiding them, and the mercenaries tasked with hunting them down at any cost. He's set as Tom Macon, "the affable owner of a very large and successful Georgia plantation and a loving family man." Alano Miller, Christopher Meloni, Devon Gummersall, Mykelti Williamson, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Aldis Hodge and Jessica De Gouw also star. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Athena Wickham has joined Jonah Nolan and Lisa Joy's Kilter Films to run the company's television development, where she'll serve as a producer on "Foundation," an adaptation of Isaac Asimov's book trilogy for HBO (Deadline.com); Jake Weber has joined the cast of "Tyrant" as Jimmy Stone, "the new love interest for Molly Al-Fayeed (Jennifer Finnigan)" (Deadline.com); Wallace Langham will drop by the season finale of "Castle" in a yet-to-be-revealed role (TVLine.com); Samira Wiley will visit "Law & Order: SVU" as "a woman whose father is in prison on incest and rape charges, due to testimony she gave as a child victim" (TVLine.com); and Bunim/Murray Productions and Boy George are developing "a reality series about the British 1980s pop star's move from London to Los Angeles" (Variety.com).
