HOMELAND SEASON FIVE: CARRIE MATHISON - "ICH BIN EIN BERLINER!"

Season Five of the Emmy-Award Winning SHOWTIME(R) Drama HOMELAND To Begin Production In Berlin, Germany This Summer

LOS ANGELES, CA - April 27, 2015 - SHOWTIME and Fox 21 Television Studios have announced today that season five of the Emmy(R) and Golden Globe(R) award winning series HOMELAND will shoot on location in Germany. Beginning production in early June at the famed Studio Babelsberg in Berlin, HOMELAND will become the first American television series to shoot a full season entirely in Germany. Season five will pick-up two years after Carrie Mathison's (Emmy(R), SAG and Golden Globe Award(R) winner Claire Danes) ill-fated tenure as Islamabad station chief. Struggling to reconcile her guilt and disillusionment with years of working on the front lines in the "war on terror," Carrie finds herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, estranged from the CIA and working for a private security firm. HOMELAND's 12-episode season will premiere this fall on SHOWTIME.

Produced by Fox 21 Television Studios, HOMELAND was developed for American television by Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon, and is based on the original Israeli series "Prisoners of War" by Gideon Raff. Along with Gansa, Gordon and Raff, the executive producers for season five are Alexander Cary, Chip Johannessen, Meredith Stiehm, Patrick Harbinson, Lesli Linka Glatter, Avi Nir and Ran Telem.

Showtime Networks Inc. (SNI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of CBS Corporation, owns and operates the premium television networks SHOWTIME(R), THE MOVIE CHANNEL(TM) and FLIX(R), as well as the multiplex channels SHOWTIME 2(TM), SHOWTIME(R) SHOWCASE, SHOWTIME EXTREME(R), SHOWTIME BEYOND(R), SHOWTIME NEXT(R), SHOWTIME WOMEN(R), SHOWTIME FAMILY ZONE(R) and THE MOVIE CHANNEL(TM) XTRA. SNI also offers SHOWTIME HD(TM), THE MOVIE CHANNEL(TM) HD, SHOWTIME ON DEMAND(R), FLIX ON DEMAND(R) and THE MOVIE CHANNEL(TM) ON DEMAND, and the network's authentication service SHOWTIME ANYTIME(R). SNI also manages Smithsonian Networks(TM), a joint venture between SNI and the Smithsonian Institution, which offers Smithsonian Channel(TM). SNI markets and distributes sports and entertainment events for exhibition to subscribers on a pay-per-view basis through SHOWTIME PPV.

The newly formed Fox 21 Television Studios is a production unit housed within Fox Television Group devoted to making creatively ambitious scripted and unscripted series for all distribution platforms. Fox 21 Television Studios currently produces the Emmy and Golden Globe winning Homeland starring Claire Danes and Mandy Patinkin, the critically acclaimed The Americans (with FX Productions) starring Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell, Kurt Sutter's smash hit Sons of Anarchy (with FX Productions), Brannon Braga and Adam Simon's supernatural hit Salem, Veena Sud's The Killing, Howard Gordon's Tyrant, Legends from Howard Gordon and Jonathan Levin, and The Comedians (with FX Productions) from Larry Charles, Matt Nix and Ben Wexler, starring Billy Crystal and Josh Gad.
