NEW SYFY WEEKLY SERIES "REACTOR" PROVIDES IRREVERENT TAKE ON SCI-FI AND POP CULTURE NEWS OF THE WEEK, BEGINNING JULY 16

Hosted by Comedian David Huntsberger, Series Joins "Geeks Who Drink" For New Syfy Late-Night Block

NEW YORK - June 29, 2015 - Hosted by comedian and genre superfan David Huntsberger, Syfy's new topical series Reactor captures and celebrates all the things sci-fi fans are talking about that week. Premiering Thursday, July 16 from 11:30-midnight ET/PT, the 12-episode weekly series immediately follows Syfy's new trivia game show Geeks Who Drink, hosted and produced by Zachary Levi (Heroes Reborn, Chuck).

Through Huntsberger's unique and comedic point of view, Reactor tackles everything hot in science fiction - from movies and television to comics - via exclusive clips, comedic sketches, the latest must-watch trailers and mash ups. Shot before a live audience, the weekly series will also feature celebrity guest appearances.

Having begun his comedy career in 2002, Huntsberger has risen the ranks in the comedy circuit. His weekly podcast, Professor Blastoff, debuted at #1 on iTunes, was voted #9 in Rolling Stones' list of top podcasts, and was named to Entertainment Weekly's 'Must List.' A semi-finalist on NBC's hit Last Comic Standing, Huntsberger has also appeared on Marc Maron's WTF podcast and Comedy Central's long-running stand-up hit Premium Blend. His comedy albums include Humanitis, which was named Serious Comedy's best of the year in 2011, and 2013's Explosion Land, which debuted in the Top15 iTunes comedy charts.

Reactor is a production of Wilshire Studios and is executive produced by writers and showrunners Brad Stevens and Boyd Vico.

Stevens and Vico have years of experience in both comedy writing and television production. Both were two of the original writers and producers for The Soup on E!, and have written and produced series for Comedy Central, NBC, and VH1, and also served as writers for On Air With Ryan Seacrest. Vico and Stevens returned to The Soup franchise when they developed and served as showrunners for Web Soup, hosted by Chris Hardwick, and The Soup Investigates, hosted by Joel McHale. They also served as head writers on Fox's World's Funniest.
