She follows the advice in Dr. Susie's book to evaluate potential suitors, and then must ultimately choose between reliable George (Jonathan Scarfe) and fun-loving Robert (Kristoffer Polaha). It's hard to change old habits and place your faith in the experts, especially when your heart tells you something different.

A chance encounter with the newly single Brenden leads to a date and Avery starts thinking maybe this year will be different. What Avery doesn't know is that Brenden's ex-girlfriend broke up with him because of Avery's advice column, and he's been leaving angry comments on her blog ever since. This has piqued the interest of other readers as he and Avery battle online. With Valentine's Day approaching, they begin to spend more time together and feelings grow, but when Avery learns what Brenden has been doing, she'll question whether this is a love story or yesterday's news.

In the process, Julia realizes she has a knack for marketing and considers changing her career plan, and falls for a charming cowboy, Ben (Eric Johnson), in the process.

They are matched and find themselves falling in love, but hiding their true identities proves far trickier than expected when Katherine's ornery and controlling father ends up in the hospital under Jack's care.
