BOYS, THE (Cinemax, New!) - Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comic book - about "a CIA squad, known informally as 'the boys,' whose job is to keep watch on the proliferation of superheroes and, if necessary, eliminate some of them - is being developed as a TV series at the pay channel. Eric Kripke ("Revolution") is spearheading the Sony Pictures Television-based project, with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg attached to direct. Original Film's Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty and Ori Marmur; Point Grey Pictures' James Weaver; Ken Levin and Kickstart's Jason Netter will likewise executive produce alongside said trio with Ennis and Robertson serving as co-executive producers. (Deadline.com)
CITIZEN (Hulu/Paramount; W: Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, Josh Pate & Nicholas Schutt; D: Alfonso Gomez-Rejon) - Multihyphenate Tom Waits has joined the cast of the drama pilot, billed as a fresh take on the hero origin story blending elements of magical realism and gritty vigilantism set against the backdrop of a vibrant, supernaturalized Los Angeles. He'll play Cesar, "a priest who is a walking anachronism of virtue and vice, mostly virtue. A proudly anti-authoritarian man, Cesar runs a guerrilla humanitarian outfit with questionable legality from his church in Boyle Heights." (Deadline.com)
EYEWITNESS (USA/UCP; W: Adi Hasak; D: Catherine Hardwicke) - Warren Christie ("Motive") is the latest addition to the upcoming drama, which delves into the lives of two innocent teenaged boys after they secretly meet up in the forest, bear witness to a shooting and barely escape with their lives. Desperate to keep their relationship a secret and in fear of being found by the perpetrator, they remain silent but soon learn that what has been seen cannot be unseen and when you witness a horrible event it changes everything, forever. He'll play Ryan Kane, "a man spiraling into an abyss of violence who will do anything possible to escape detection after committing a series of passion-fueled murders." (Deadline.com)
MODEL WOMAN (ABC/TriStar; W: Helen Childress; D: Richard Shepard) - Jamie Bamber, Kaley Ronayne and Marcus Callender have all been cast in the drama pilot, set in the late 1970's during the notorious Model Wars and centers on Bertie Geiss (Andie MacDowell), a tempestuous matriarch and uncompromising businesswoman at the helm of an internationally renowned modeling agency. Bamber will take over from Felix Gomez as Lio Fibonacci, "a longtime colleague of Bertie and Miller Geiss who reads more rock star than agent and opens a rival agency that he plans to take to the top." Ronayne then is set as Rebecca Blackwell, "the top model in the world"; with Callender as Drew Pickett, "a handsome couture designer who is planning to design a clothing line for TG Bigbees Department Stores, though he worries it will be the end of his couture business." (Deadline.com)
SHOTS FIRED (FOX/20th; W: Gina Prince-Bythewood & Reggie Rock Bythewood; D: Gina Prince-Bythewood) - Alicia Sanz, Edwina Findley, Marqus Clae and Shamier Anderson have all been tapped for roles on the event series, which examines the dangerous aftermath of racially charged shootings in a small town in Tennessee. Sanz will play Paula, "Javier's (Angel Bonanni) new girlfriend who has a volatile relationship with Ashe (Sanaa Lathan)"; with Findley as Shirlane, "a reporter covering the shooting"; Clae as Cory, "a 17-year-old tough talker who might know more about the shooting than he lets on"; and Anderson as Maceo Terry, "a pro football player and brother of Preston Terry (Stephan James)." (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - "Arrow" co-star Katie Cassidy has confirmed her exit from the series following the events of tonight's episode (TVLine.com); FYI will pull the plug on "Kocktails with Khloé" after 14 weeks, despite previously extending its run through 23 (Deadline.com); Bella Heathcote has joined the cast of "The Man in the High Castle" as Nicole Becker, "a young, Berlin-born filmmaker who will cross paths with Joe (Luke Kleintank)" (Deadline.com); Guy Burnet is set to recur on "Hand of God" as Raymond Kelly, "an unassuming chameleon; meticulous, professional and sharp and handy in any situation" (Deadline.com); Cynthia Sikes is likewise bound for "Aquarius" as Betty Goodale, "a socialite with strong connections in the California Republican Party who befriends and mentors Grace (Michaela McManus)" (Deadline.com);
Brad Garrett will be featured in the two-part season finale of "Law & Order: SVU" as "a corrections officer at Rikers who maintains his reputation as a hardworking family man, but hides a long history of corruption and violence against female inmates, both inside and out of prison" (Deadline.com); Lili Simmons has been tapped for an arc in HBO's "Westworld" as Abigail, "who works in the park and uses her good looks and charm to lure Westworld guests into the saloon" (Deadline.com); and Madeline Brewer and Malachi Kirby are both set for an upcoming installment of Netflix's "Black Mirror" from director Jakob Verbruggen (Deadline.com).
