HBO Renews Hit Series "Game of Thrones," "Silicon Valley" and "Veep" for 2017
All three series return this Sunday on the pay channel.

HBO RENEWS HIT SERIES "GAME OF THRONES," "SILICON VALLEY" AND "VEEP" FOR 2017

LOS ANGELES, April 21, 2016 - With all three shows set to return for new seasons on Sunday, April 24, HBO has renewed GAME OF THRONES, SILICON VALLEY and VEEP for 2017, it was announced today by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming.

The Emmy(R)-winning GAME OF THRONES begins its ten-episode sixth season Sunday, April 24 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT). Based on the bestselling fantasy books by George R.R. Martin, the fantasy series chronicles an epic struggle for power in a vast and violent kingdom. Series regulars this season include: Emmy(R) and Golden Globe winner Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Aidan Gillen, Diana Rigg, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams and Jonathan Pryce.

Season six credits: The executive producers of GAME OF THRONES are David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, Carolyn Strauss, Frank Doelger and Bernadette Caulfield; co-executive producers, Guymon Casady, Vince Gerardis and George R.R. Martin; supervising producer, Bryan Cogman; producers, Chris Newman, Greg Spence and Lisa McAtackney.

The Emmy(R)-winning and Golden Globe(R)-nominated SILICON VALLEY takes a comic look at the modern-day epicenter of the high-tech gold rush, where the people most qualified to succeed are the least capable of handling success. A collaboration between Mike Judge and Alec Berg, the show returns for its ten-episode third season Sunday, April 24 (10:00-10:30 p.m.). Series regulars include Thomas Middleditch, T.J. Miller, Zach Woods, Kumail Nanjiani, Martin Starr, Josh Brener, Amanda Crew, Matt Ross, Jimmy O. Yang and Suzanne Cryer.

The Emmy(R)-winning comedy series VEEP kicks off its ten-episode fifth season Sunday, April 24 (10:30-11:00 p.m.). The show stars Emmy(R) and Screen Actors Guild Award winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus as President Selina Meyer, for whom the most banal action can set off a ripple effect with unexpected and far-reaching consequences. The ensemble cast also includes Emmy(R) winner Tony Hale, Emmy(R) nominee Anna Chlumsky, Matt Walsh, Reid Scott, Timothy Simons, Sufe Bradshaw, Kevin Dunn, Gary Cole and Sam Richardson.

Season five credits: VEEP was created by Armando Iannucci; executive produced by David Mandel, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Frank Rich, Chris Godsick, Lew Morton.

GAME OF THRONES, SILICON VALLEY and VEEP are part of an upcoming HBO original programming lineup that also includes: THE NIGHT OF, an eight-part limited series, created by Steven Zaillian and Richard Price and starring John Turturro and Riz Ahmed, exploring a complex New York City murder case with cultural and political overtones, debuting July 10; BALLERS, returning for its second season July 17, a look at the lives of former and current football players, starring Dwayne Johnson; VICE PRINCIPALS, a dark comedy series set in a high school, created by Danny McBride and Jody Hill, and starring McBride and Walton Goggins, debuting July 17; DIVORCE, a comedy series starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Thomas Haden Church, created by Sharon Horgan and executive produced by Paul Simms, telling the story of a woman reassessing her life and marriage; the comedy series HIGH MAINTENANCE, which follows a Brooklyn pot dealer who delivers to clients with neuroses as diverse as the city, created by Katja Blichfeld and Ben Sinclair and starring Sinclair; and a new comedy series starring Issa Rae and Yvonne Orji, looking at the friendship of two black women and their uncomfortable experiences and racy tribulations, co-created by Issa Rae and Larry Wilmore.
