EMPIRE (FOX) - Taye Diggs ("Murder in the First") has booked a recurring role as Angelo Dubois, "a city councilman hailing from a respected and affluent New York family. With his pedigree and a Harvard law diploma, Diggs' Angelo could have made a fortune in the private sector. Instead, he is ruled by his sense of noblesse oblige, and focuses his energies on community organizing and local politics, inviting comparisons to Barack Obama." (TVLine.com)
ESCORT, THE (MTV, New!) - Actor/writer Michael Doneger is looking to bring his 2015 feature to the small screen, about "a sex-obsessed writer (Doneger) in need of a big story to land an editorial gig. After retaining the help of a beautiful, Stanford-schooled hooker (Lyndsey Fonseca), the two form a symbiotic relationship as he tags along on her tricks to research his article, while she covertly uses him as a quasi-bodyguard against her not-so-dear Johns. Soon their business deal becomes a friendship that evolves even further." Blake Goza and Mark DiCristofaro also serve as executive producers on the drama. (Deadline.com)
POWERLESS (NBC) - Ron Funches ("Undateable") has joined the cast of the newcomer as Ron, "an IT guy who works at RetCon Insurance Co. Ron is a sweet and innocent guy who, unlike his co-workers, has not lost his childlike enthusiasm for all things superhero." (EW.com)
QUANTICO (ABC) - Tracy Ifeachor, David Lim and Aaron Diaz are the latest additions to the show's sophomore run as Lydia Bates, "a highly accomplished actuary with a few twists up her sleeve"; Sebastian Chen, "a focused and confident future agent"; and León Velez, "a thrill-seeking photojournalist with no home or life outside his backpack," respectively. (THR.com)
SANTA CLARITA DIET (Netflix) - Joy Osmanski will recur on the Timothy Olyphant/Drew Barrymore-led series as Alondra. "She and her husband Rick are Joel (Olyphant) and Sheila's (Barrymore) other next door neighbors. Alondra is quiet and reserved, and works for the city in an office job where she stays under the radar. She and Rick recently had a baby." (Deadline.com)
SHOOTER (USA) - The cable channel has postponed the series' launch once again. "After further consideration, USA Network, Paramount TV and Universal Cable Productions have decided to move the premiere of Shooter to the fall," the network said in a statement. (Deadline.com)
