RUPERT GRINT TO STAR IN CRACKLE'S NEW ORIGINAL DRAMA "SNATCH," BASED ON POPULAR FILM

Dougray Scott and Ed Westwick Also Join Cast for 10 Episode Hour-Long Series Set To Premiere in 2017

Nick Renton To Direct

CULVER CITY, Calif. (August 22, 2016) - Crackle, Sony's streaming network, today announced that Rupert Grint, most known for his role as Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter film franchise, will star in the network's new scripted drama series, "Snatch," based on the wildly popular movie of the same name. Grint, who most recently was seen on Broadway opposite Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane in "It's Only a Play," will play the dynamic, frustratingly chaotic and utterly posh, Charlie Cavendish, and will also serve as an executive producer. Additional cast includes Dougray Scott ("Fear The Walking Dead," "Doctor Who") as Vic Hill, and Ed Westwick ("Wicked City," "Gossip Girl") who will guest star as Sonny Castillo. Nick Renton ("The Musketeers," "Jericho") has signed on to direct the series which begins production next week in Manchester, England.

As previously announced at this year's Upfront presentation, Crackle will carry the spirit of the setting in the original feature film, while creating a new world born from the original movie.

Inspired by a real life heist in London, "Snatch," centers on a group of twenty-something, up and coming hustlers who stumble upon a truck load of stolen gold bullion and are suddenly thrust into the high-stakes world of organized crime. The boys must quickly learn to navigate the treacherous waters of London's underworld as rogue cops, gypsy fighters, international mobsters and local villains descend. The series will premiere in 2017 with 10 one hour episodes. Alex De Rakoff also serves as executive producer and Helen Flint produces for Little Island Productions.

"Snatch" builds on Crackle's growing slate of scripted original dramas, including "StartUp" which premieres September 6th and stars Martin Freeman, Adam Brody, Edi Gathegi and Otmara Marrero, and "The Art of More," starring Dennis Quaid, Kate Bosworth, Christian Cooke and Cary Elwes, which Harper's Bazaar called the "#1 Best New Fall TV Show" when it premiered last year. Other programming on the streaming network includes the stop-motion animated comedy series "SuperMansion," with Bryan Cranston, Seth Green, Keegan-Michael Key, Chris Pine and Jillian Bell, which Key and Pine recently received Emmy(R) nominations for in the Character Voice-Over Performance category; Crackle's weekly live game show series "Sports Jeopardy!" with Emmy(R) award-winning sportscaster Dan Patrick and its flagship award-winning series "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" with Jerry Seinfeld, which recently wrapped up its eighth season and received an Emmy(R) nomination this year for Outstanding Variety Talk Series, marking the first-ever digital series nomination in this category and the first time the show was nominated outside the short-form category. Crackle original movies include JOE DIRT 2: BEAUTIFUL LOSER, the first ever digital sequel to a major motion picture, starring David Spade, and DEAD RISING: WATCHTOWER starring Jesse Metcalfe, Virginia Madsen and Rob Riggle.
