"SUPERCAR SUPERBUILD"

NEW EPISODES PREMIERING SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30 AT 9 PM ET/PT

Series Offers Behind The Scenes Look At The Makers Of Pagani, Mustang, Viper And Porsche As They Search For Their Next Great Car

NEW YORK - October 6, 2016 - Smithsonian Channel is set to premiere new episodes of SUPERCAR SUPERBUILD, beginning Sunday, October 30 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The series goes behind the inherent beauty, amazing mechanical prowess, and basic building process of some of the world's leading luxury automakers as they attempt to produce what they hope is their next iconic car. The new episodes focus on the Pagani, Mustang, Viper and Porsche.

They're rare. They're beautiful. They're expensive. They not only push the performance envelope, they rip it wide open. Yet every supercar shares one thing in common: they all have a unique story to tell. There is often high-stakes pressure, impossible deadlines, secret meetings, remarkable engineering challenges, and, of course, dynamic styling.

These machines stand at the center of imagination and obsession. They are vehicles that light fantasies and capture the hearts of many while creating envy and desire among all. Yet, to create these masterpieces is an art all its own. A dedicated and passionate team stands behind each machine, creating the ultimate supercar for enthusiasts around the world. Each hour-long episode of SUPERCAR SUPERBUILD takes an in-depth look at the origin, design, challenges, and performance of the featured car.

SUPERCAR SUPERBUILD: PAGANI Premieres Sunday, October 30 at 9 p.m. ET/PT In a world rife with gigantic car companies battling each other for world domination, one man has set out on an individual quest to tame air itself. His dream? An ultra-expensive, ultra-exclusive, ultra-aerodynamic sculptural form that has over 700 horsepower, four computer-controlled flaps just like an airplane, and a top speed north of 230 miles per hour. Only 40 versions of the machine will be built each year and every single one carries a not so subtle $1.5 million price tag. Rarefied air indeed.

SUPERCAR SUPERBUILD: MUSTANG Premieres Sunday, November 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT Over the past decade, Ford has battled back through economic crisis to again become a worldwide powerhouse, thanks in large part to a singular focus on a simple plan. The idea: to build universal machines that can be sold to drivers around the world. The last remaining machine to conform to this new way of thinking is the brand's iconic Mustang. It is one of the world's most affordable supercars with a top speed of just over 200 miles per hour, and, for the very first time, Ford must figure out how to engineer a right-hand drive version in order to sell this American muscle car in a global market.

SUPERCAR SUPERBUILD: VIPER Premieres Sunday, November 13 at 9 p.m. ET/PT It is a car that defied odds. In the heart of a nationwide economic collapse, a former designer is thrust into the CEO role and must navigate his company through its darkest hours. Can he restore hope by asking his team to redesign an iconic supercar? The result - a clandestine project hidden in plain sight that culminates in a machine known the world over simply as the Viper.

SUPERCAR SUPERBUILD: PORSCHE Premieres Sunday, November 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT The iconic 911 sports car manufacturer is at the top of its game, but danger looms over the horizon if worldwide fossil fuels are depleted. To ensure the company's survival, a team of highly trained engineers goes back to the drawing board and reimagines the very concept of the sports car before setting out to build the world's first true hybrid supercar.

SUPERCAR SUPERBUILD is produced by Cry Havoc Productions. Executive producer for Cry Havoc is Dylan Weiss. David Royle and Charles Poe serve as executive producers for Smithsonian Channel.
