Amazon Original Special "An American Girl Story: Summer Camp, Friends for Life" to Premiere on Prime Video Friday, June 9

On Friday, June 9, Amazon Original Special An American Girl Story: Summer Camp, Friends for Life is set to launch on Prime Video in the US, UK, Germany and Austria.

In the new special, friends Z (Zoe Manarel, The Nightingale) and Paz (Alison Fernandez, Logan) arrive at S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) camp excited for tech heaven. When the administrator surprises everyone by restricting their devices, they think their summer's doomed. Things take a mysterious turn when they meet Jordan (Monique Green, Marriage of Lies), an enchanting "counselor" who sends them on an adventure, opening them up to a world of possibilities - like befriending Drew (Lauren Donzis, Liv and Maddie). The special, directed by Alison McDonald (An American Girl Story - Melody 1963: Love Has to Win), also stars Camryn Manheim (Extant).

"Summer Camp, Friends for Life combines the relatable themes of friendship and collaboration in a fun and engaging S.T.E.A.M. camp environment," said Tara Sorensen, Head of Kids Programming at Amazon Studios. "Our customers will be inspired by Z, Paz and Drew as they work together toward solving the mystery presented to them."

Today, American Girl also announced plans to bring its newest contemporary character Z (short for Suzie) to life via a beautiful 18-inch doll, along with several outfits and accessories, like Z's dog and scooter, as well as items that reflect her filmmaking interests, including a camera, smartphone, and tripod. The Z doll will be available beginning today at the American Girl brand store at Amazon, through its award-winning American Girl catalogue and americangirl.com, and at all American Girl retail locations nationwide.

The first two original American Girl specials for Prime Video, An American Girl Story - Melody 1963: Love Has to Win and An American Girl Story - Maryellen 1955: Extraordinary Christmas, were based on the characters Melody Ellison and Maryellen Larkin from the BeForever historical-inspired character line. These two specials, in addition to the newly launched special An American Girl Story - Ivy & Julie 1976: A Happy Balance, are currently available to stream on Prime Video.

An American Girl Story - Melody 1963: Love Has to Win recently won several awards including a Parents' Choice Gold Award, NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Children's Program, Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Children's Programs, and a Humanitas Prize in the Children's Live Action Category.

An American Girl Story: Summer Camp, Friends for Life will be available for Prime members to stream and enjoy using the Amazon Prime Video app for TVs, connected devices including Amazon Fire TV, and mobile devices, or online at www.amazon.com/originals, at no additional cost to their membership. Customers who are not already a Prime member can sign up for a free trial at www.amazon.com/prime. For a list of all Amazon Video compatible devices, visit www.amazon.com/howtostream.
