GOOD DOCTOR, THE (ABC) - Fiona Gubelmann has landed five-episode arc on the freshman hit as Morgan, "a charming, funny new resident who is fully embracing life and yet also quite cutthroat (but it's never personal)." Said role has the option to become a series regular. (Deadline.com)
JANE THE VIRGIN (The CW) - Brooke Shields will recur on the current season as "a renowned actress and supermodel named "River Fields" who gets into a feud with Jaime Camil's Rogelio De La Vega on the network drama. The feud goes viral, which makes it clear to Rogelio that he has met his match - and a new nemesis." (Variety.com)
KOMINSKY METHOD, THE (Netflix) - Nancy Travis has booked the female lead opposite Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin in the 10-episode single-camera comedy, about Sandy Kominsky (Douglas), an actor who years ago had a brief fling with success and is now a revered Hollywood acting coach. She'll play Lisa: "She is not your typical acting student; she's fifty-something, down to earth, and has a 18-year-old son at home. After her recent divorce, she decided to do something for herself and take acting lessons from the great Sandy Kominsky. As she gets to know the man behind the myth, they connect and start on a late-in-life romance that takes them both by surprise." (Deadline.com)
SEARCH AND DESTROY (Hulu, New!) - Carrie Brownstein ("Portlandia") has scored a pilot order from the streaming service for a new semi-autobiographical comedy about "a young woman, a band, and a community learning how to be unafraid of their own noise." Annapurna Television's Megan Ellison, Sue Naegle and Ali Krug will also executive produce with Brownstein writing and directing. (Deadline.com)
WANGS VS. THE WORLD, THE (Hulu, New!) - Jade Chang is looking to adapt her best-selling novel - about "a wealthy but fractured Chinese immigrant family that had it all, only to lose every last cent - and about the road trip they take across America that binds them back together" - as a comedy at the streaming service. Jon M. Chu is already attached to direct with Bridget Bedard and Groundswell Productions' Michael London serving as executive producers. (THR.com)
