A+E NETWORKS(R) LAUNCHES GROUNDBREAKING CROSS-CHANNEL SHORT FORM SERIES BIOGRAPHY PRESENTS: HISTORY, HERSTORY FEATURING ALL-STAR TALENT ON MARCH 1

In Honor of Women's History Month, Julianna Margulies, Kristin Davis, Laverne Cox, Bernice King and others nominate influential figures in women's history from Maya Angelou to Joan of Arc for new series

NEW YORK, NY - March 1, 2018 - A+E Networks will debut Biography presents: History, Herstory, an engaging on-air short form series in honor of 'Women's History Month' beginning today, March 1. Presented by a range of influential voices, including Julianna Margulies, Kristin Davis, Laverne Cox, Bernice King, the series brings the powerful stories of prominent women throughout history from Maya Angelou to Joan of Arc to air across multiple A+E Networks channels. Biography presents: History, Herstory will begin premiering today, and will air throughout the month of March in prime time slots across HISTORY, Lifetime and A&E.

With the overwhelming majority of history textbooks written by men and about men, HISTORY and Lifetime partnered to launch Biography presents: History, Herstory to showcase the narratives of women whose impacts on society are often overlooked. Narrated by some of today's most notable voices, the series spotlights some of history's most prominent changemakers, from the poet and activist Maya Angelou, to the fierce warrior queen Boudiccea, the legal might of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the entertaining humor of chef Julia Child.

"Ask a man in the street - in fact ask a woman - to name five women from history and they struggle. While we can reel off the names of Generals, Presidents, male inventors and adventurers, we struggle to name their female counterparts," said Tiffanie Darke, Editor-in-Chief of HISTORY, Biography and A&E. "The stories of those women are out there, but their profile is limited. The desire to find out more about women's agency in the world and its history is here. HISTORY and Lifetime are proud to play their part in that."

"These really are extraordinary times, when the incredible, ceiling-shattering stories of women who just wouldn't take no for an answer are the stories that people want to hear," said Lea Goldman, Editor-in-Chief of Lifetime. "It's time to make household names of women who've been relegated to the footnotes. Lifetime and HISTORY are proud to propel that initiative."

Beyond audiences on TV and digital platforms, educational materials connected to Biography presents: History, Herstory will be distributed digitally to over 250,000 teachers across America.

Biography presents: History, Herstory Presenters: Kristin Davis, Tim Gunn, Laverne Cox, Bernice King, Julianna Margulies, Shiri Appleby, Stacy London, Bree Newsome, Diane Nash, Deshauna Barber, Tiffanie Darke
