EAST OF WEST/TRANSHUMAN (Amazon, New!) - Jonathan Hickman is looking to bring his comic titles to the small screen via Amazon Studios and Robert Kirkman's Skybound Entertainment. The former is "set in a reimagined Western landscape where America is divided into seven nations. This iconic science fiction series follows "Death" as he braves his fellow riders, monsters, and corrupt gunslingers in his quest to save his mortal family from the Apocalypse." The latter then is "a science fiction drama set in the near future. The show centers around a divorced couple, who ran rival major corporations, offering humans the ability to genetically and robotically enhance themselves." Nick Dragotta and J.M. Ringuet, their respective artists, will executive produce alongside Hickman, Kirkman, David Alpert, Sean Furst and Bryan Furst. Josh Adler also executive produces "Transhuman." Hickman will pen "East of West" while a writer is being determined for "Transhuman." (Deadline.com)
MAYANS MC (FX) - Gino Vento will recur on the upcoming "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off as Nester, "the fiercely loyal, childhood friend of Miguel Galindo (Danny Pino), who is now his cold-eyed head security willing to do anything to enforce the family's rule." (Deadline.com)
PEN15 (Hulu, New!) - Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle are set to star in AwesomenessTV's new 10-episode comedy at the streaming service as "versions of themselves as 13-year-old outcasts in the year 2000 surrounded by actual 13-year-olds, where the best day of your life can turn into your worst with the stroke of a gel pen." Sam Zvibleman co-created the project alongside Erskine and Konkle, who will likewise direct. Party Over Here's Becky Sloviter, Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone will also executive produce; as will Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment's Marc Provissiero and Brooke Pobjoy; and Debbie Liebling and Gabe Liedman. Production is set to begin this summer. (THR.com)
