ARE YOU SLEEPING (Apple) - The Octavia Spencer-led drama - billed as a unique glimpse into America's obsession with true-crime podcasts and challenges its viewers to consider the consequences when the pursuit of justice is placed on a public stage - has received a 10-episode commitment. Writer Nichelle Tramble Spellman and producer Reese Witherspoon are also among the auspices. (Deadline.com)
ARROW (The CW) - Co-star Paul Blackthorne will not be returning as a series regular next season. He joins Willa Holland, who bowed out earlier this year. (TVLine.com)
CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA, THE (Netflix) - As expected, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has formally revealed the project's title as "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina." (@WriterRAS)
LOVECRAFT COUNTRY (HBO) - Jonathan Majors is set to star opposite Jurnee Smollett-Bell in the Jordan Peele-produced drama. He'll play Atticus Black, "a Korean war vet who always has a pulp novel in his back pocket, and wears his heart on his sleeve despite the daily injustice of living in Jim Crow America." (Deadline.com)
METROPOLIS (DC Universe) - The direct-to-consumer digital service has quietly opted to redevelop the project, which was originally announced back in January. Set in the wondrous and awe-inspiring City of Tomorrow before the arrival of Superman, "Metropolis" follows Lois Lane and Lex Luthor as they investigate the world of fringe science and expose the city's dark and bizarre secrets. (Deadline.com)
RIVERDALE (The CW) - Vanessa Morgan's Toni Topaz and Charles Melton's Reggie Mantle will both return as series regulars next season. (TVLine.com)
UNTITLED MCELHENNEY & ROSELL PROJECT (FOX) - Rob McElhenney and Rob Rosell's multi-camera comedy - about "a woman, her ex-husband and her new wife who work together to raise a family in middle America" - has received a formal off-cycle pilot order. RCG Productions' Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton as well as 3 Arts Entertainment's Nick Frenkel will likewise executive produce for 20th Century Fox TV. RCG was behind "The Cool Kids," which was also filmed off-cycle last year. (Deadline.com)
