LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:
Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!
CATCH-22 (Hulu) - Julie Ann Emery has snagged a recurring role on the limited series as Marion Scheisskopf, "who's married to Scheisskopf (George Clooney), but having an affair with Yossarian (Christopher Abbott). Earthy and beautiful, she's passionate but bored. Restless. A little sad, even. Yet alone with Yossarian, she's mischievous and playful. She connects with him. It's mental and intellectual as well as physical. She made a huge mistake marrying the awful Scheisskopf, and dreams of a bigger life." (Deadline.com)
KIDDING (Showtime) - Newcomer Grace Song has been tapped for an arc on the Jim Carrey-led comedy as Eliza, "a 19-year-old college student who lives next door to Jeff." (Deadline.com)
QUEEN AMERICA (Facebook Watch) - Belle Shouse has joined the Catherine Zeta-Jones-led dark comedy series, about Vicki Ellis (Zeta-Jones), the most renowned (and ruthless) pageant coach in the state, and the hapless Samantha Stone (Shouse) who hopes Vicki can mold her into worthwhile contender for the title of Miss America. Also tapped for roles are Teagle F. Bougere as "hair and makeup extraordinaire, Nigel"; Rana Roy as Mary, "a former pageant queen-turned-fitness trainer"; Isabella Amara as "Vicki's teenage niece Bella"; Molly Price as "Vicki's older sister Katie"; and Megan West as Brittany, "Samantha's number one rival and the one to beat." (Deadline.com)
RIGHTEOUS GEMSTONES, THE (HBO) - Adam Devine has signed onto multihyphenate Danny McBride's comedy pilot as Kelvin Gemstone, "the youngest son of Eli (John Goodman) and Amy Leigh. Described as "the edgy one," he's caught in the middle of the giant personalities that are Jesse (McBride) and Judy Gemstone (Edi Patterson) and has branded himself an outsider to the church, feeling his methods are too hardcore for mainstream religion. Kelvin doesn't have bigger ambitions for the head seat at the table but focuses his efforts on the eradication of Satan and dark forces from everyday life." (Variety.com)
TELL ME YOUR SECRETS (TNT) - Chales Esten and Kat Willis have both booked recurring roles on the series. He'll play Saul Barlow, "a grieving father who has coped with the disappearance of his daughter by walking away from materialism and trying to move on from the loss. This has severely strained his relationship with his wife (Amy Brenneman), who refuses to give up the search." And she's set as Diana Lord, "a woman trying to balance her charity work with her struggle to parent a privileged daughter she can't control." (Deadline.com)
