AMERICAN SOUL (BET) - Sinqua Walls has been cast as Don Cornelius in the cable channel's upcoming series about the "Soul Train" creator. (Deadline.com)
BIG BANG THEORY, THE (CBS) - Keith Carradine has booked a return trip to the veteran comedy this season as Penny's dad Wyatt. (TVLine.com)
BRIARPATCH (USA) - Jay R. Ferguson, Edi Gathegi and Brian Geraghty have all been cast in the Rosario Dawson-led drama pilot. Ferguson will play Jake Spivey, "Allegra's childhood best friend and former running buddy"; with Gathegi as A.D. Singe, "an estate attorney, an iconoclast, and - rarest of all in these parts - an optimist"; and Geraghty as Captain Gene Colder, "a model cop and citizen." (Deadline.com)
CAPITAL (NBC, New!) - Sean Finegan has sold a potential drama to the Peacock which "centers on Special Agent Joanna Ward who heads up an elite Washington, D.C., unit that catches the world's most dangerous criminals because she knows that all high-stakes crimes have one thing in common. Money. Someone's paying for it and someone's profiting from it. But when her partner gets killed and her team comes under attack, Jo must form an unholy alliance with her arch-enemy: a money launderer-extraordinaire who's on the run from his most dangerous client." Universal TV is behind the hour with Carol Mendelsohn Productions' Carol Mendelsohn and Julie Weitz; and CannyLads Productions' Julie Anne Robinson also executive producing. FAMILY FRIENDLY (ABC, New!) - Writers Christine Pietrosh and Jessica Goldstein are set to team with director Jason Winer for a single-camera comedy about "three working moms, who would have never been friends outside of work, but band together to survive an office that, despite its wholesome public image, is not quite family friendly." Small Dog Picture Company's Jon Radler will also executive produce the project, which has a put pilot commitment, for 20th Century Fox TV. (Deadline.com)
GREENHOUSE ACADEMY (Netflix) - Danika Yarosh has joined the cast of the show's third season as Brooke Osmond, replacing Grace Van Dien. The latter's departure is due to her series regular status on NBC's midseason drama "The Village." (Deadline.com)
MAN WITH A PLAN (CBS) - Kali Rocha's Marcy, "the bossy sister-in-law to Adam Burns (Matt LeBlanc)," has been promoted to regular for the show's third season. (Deadline.com)
MR. IGLESIAS (Netflix) - Richard Gant and Tucker Albrizzi are both bound for the Gabriel "Fluffy" Iglesias-led comedy as Ray Hayward, "a mentor to Gabe"; and "a lazy slacker named Walter," respectively. (Deadline.com)
OUR LADY, LTD (Epix) - Jacki Weaver is the latest addition to the Ben Kingsley/Jimmi Simpson-led drama as Lillian "who, along and Pastor Byron Brown (Kingsley), are known to their parishioners as Ma and Pa and have used religion to bilk hundreds of innocent men and women out of their life savings. Ma, who resembles at first glance a modest, dutiful church lady, is Pa's willing accomplice, and his counterpart in regard to potency and cruelty." (Deadline.com)
STATION 19 (ABC) - Dermot Mulroney will recur on the show's sophomore run as the father to police officer Ryan Tanner (Alberto Frezza). (Deadline.com)
SWAMP THING (DC) - Len Wiseman is set to helm the debut episode of the latest DC Comics adaptation as well as executive produce the series. Said development is part of a new overall deal with producer Warner Bros. Television. (Deadline.com)
TOM CLANCY'S JACK RYAN (Amazon) - Dennie Gordon has been tapped to direct and executive produce three of the eight episodes of the second season. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED NKECHI CARROLL PROJECT (ABC, New!) - Nkechi Carroll has landed a put pilot commitment from the Alphabet for a new drama about "recently divorced and unemployed Chelsea Barnum, who is looking for a second chance. When she packs up her kids and moves from the big city to the small town of Sutter, North Carolina, to accept a job as the new police chief, what she finds is something unimaginable: a criminal justice system run entirely by women of color." Warner Bros. Television, home to Carroll's overall deal, is behind the project with Brownstone Productions' Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman and Berlanti Productions' Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter also among the executive producers.
