ANIMALS. (HBO) - The pay channel has opted not to order a fourth season of the late-night animated series. (Deadline.com)
BROCKMIRE (IFC) - Martha Plimpton will drop by the upcoming season as Brockmire's newest sponsor, Shirley: "She is described as a cigarette-smoking, no-nonsense woman who has been 8 years sober. She's seen every excuse in the book and finds Brockmire's attempts at explaining his bad behavior hilarious. She's about to show him the harsh realities of sobriety, the ones they don't teach you in meetings." (Variety.com)
CHAPLAIN (CBS, New!) - Nick Weiss and Isaac Laskin have landed a new drama to the Eye which "centers around a talented, scientifically minded ICU doctor and her free-thinking, faith-oriented brother clash over the best approach to the business of saving lives when he is hired as chaplain at her hospital." Weiss and Laurie McCarthy then will executive produce the CBS TV Studios-based alongside Stage 29 Productions' Julia Eisenman, Phil McGraw and Jay McGraw with Laskin as a co-executive producer. DORIAN (The CW, New!) - Marisa Coughlan has sold a new drama to the netlet inspired by Oscar Wilde's novel "The Picture of Dorian Gray" which "centers on a woman who made a deal with the devil 50 years ago to remain young has spent the subsequent decades living selfishly and without consequences. As the downsides of eternal youth finally land on her, Dorian is ready to grow up and age gracefully, but, to do so, she'll have to make amends for half a century of bad behavior." Warner Bros. TV is behind the hour with Len Goldstein likewise executive producing. (Deadline.com)
IT TAKES TWO (FOX, New!) - Writers Jon and Josh Silberman are developing a new comedy based on the lives/memoir of fellow identical twin brothers/HGTV staples Drew and Jonathan Scott. The single-camera comedy "follows two entrepreneurial twin brothers who decide to join forces in the real estate business when they realize they are stronger together than apart." Lionsgate Television is behind the project, which has a penalty attached. The Silbermans, The Tannenbaum Compgany's Eric and Kim Tannenbaum, Scott Brothers Entertainment's Drew and Jonathan Scott and Austin Winsberg are the executive producers with Jason Wang as a co-executive producer. JELLIES, THE (Adult Swim) - Tyler, the Creator and Lionel Boyce's Bald Face Productions has signed a first-look deal with Sony Pictures Television. The pact gives the studio first crack at the duo's output. (Deadline.com)
MELANIE (CBS, New!) - Scott Prendergast has booked a potential drama at the Eye about "a scattered but astute criminal defense attorney who uses her seemingly inept methods to disarm judges, charm juries, and win cases returns home to join her brother's white-shoe law firm and help her family of outsiders get back on their feet." Stage 29 Productions' Julia Eisenman, Phil McGraw and Jay McGraw are also executive producing for CBS TV Studios. (Deadline.com)
NO HARD FEELINGS (The CW, New!) - Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey have sold a new dramedy to the netlet about "a group of friends who conspire to exact revenge on an old rival who assaulted one of their own and got away with it back in college." Brad Silberling is also on board to executive produce for CBS Television Studios. (Deadline.com)
TAILS (FOX, New!) - Riki Lindhome is attached to star in a single-camera comedy for the network about Erika, "a woman in her late 30s, who despite the pressure she feels from the world around her, refuses to settle in any area of her life." She'll also co-write the half-hour, which has a penalty attached, alongside Monica Padrick for the Universal Television. Paper Kite Productions' Amy Poehler and 3 Arts Entertainment's Dave Becky are likewise set to executive produce with Kim Lessing producing. (Deadline.com)
TERROR, THE (AMC) - Josef Kubota Wladyka has been tapped to helm the debut installment of the anthology series' second season. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED NYPD BLUE SPIN-OFF PROJECT (ABC, New!) - Matt Olmstead, Nick Wootton and Jesse Bochco are developing a "new iteration of the iconic cop drama that will revolve around the son of Dennis Franz's Andy Sipowicz character from the original series. The return of NYPD Blue follows his son, Theo, as he tries to earn his detective shield and work in the 15th squad while investigating his father's murder. Theo seems to have taken after his father as he too is a hard-drinking, hard-headed and quick-witted cop." 20th Century Fox TV and ABC Studios are behind the project, which has a pilot production commitment and is already casting its four main roles, led by Theo Sipowicz. Bochco is attached to direct from a script by Olmstead and Wootton. Steven Bochco's widow, Dayna Bochco, will serve as a producer. It's understood "the intention is for original cast members to appear on the followup series." (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED SARAH CHALKE PROJECT (ABC, New!) - Sarah Chalke is set to star in a potential dramedy for the Alphabet about "two very different sisters who take over the adoption agency that their parents, a lawyer and a social worker, have run out of their home for the last 30 years." Emily Fox is penning the hour for Warner Bros. Television with Fox, Doozer Productions' Bill Lawrence and Jeff Ingold executive producing, Chalke co-executive producing and Liza Katzer producing. UNTITLED TWELFTH NIGHT PROJECT (Amazon, New!) - Writers Steven Sater and Lauren Gussis are set to team with director Marc Webb for a contemporary musical series inspired by William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" which "tells the complicated love story between a young man and biological young woman who, over the course of the series, begins to identify as gender-fluid. In order to hold onto the love of his life, our young male hero writes an original musical version of Twelfth Night for his beloved to star in and perform over winter break. But they're not alone - a group of college kids find themselves sequestered on an empty snowbound campus - and when the magic of the play kicks in, everyone involved ends up exploring every manner of sexuality and gender identity." Amazon Studios and CBS TV Studios are both behind the project with Ryan Seacrest Productions' Nina Wass and Ryan Seacrest also among the executive producers and Duncan Sheik attached to co-write the songs in the pilot with Sater. UTOPIA (Amazon) - Toby Haynes has been tapped to helm the streaming service's nine-episode adaptation of the 2013-14 British drama series. (Deadline.com)
WESTWORLD (HBO) - Co-stars Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright and Thandie Newton have reportedly scored salary increases in advance of the third season, now valued at $250,000 an episode. (THR.com)
WU ASSASSINS (Netflix) - Lawrence Kao and Celia Au have both been tapped for the upcoming drama as Tommy Wah, "a drug addict in search of redemption as he is passed over by his parents in favor of his younger sister who runs the family business"; and Ying Ying, "a quirky, young woman who is wise beyond her years and assists Kai Jin in his mission," respectively.
