A Great Story Can Come from Anywhere and Travel Everywhere
Netflix continues its investment in European content with the announcement of new original series from Norway and Spain.

A GREAT STORY CAN COME FROM ANYWHERE AND TRAVEL EVERYWHERE

Netflix, the world's leading internet entertainment service, continues its investment in European content with the announcement of new original series from Norway and Spain.

Greg Peters, Netflix Chief Product Officer, revealed the two new projects during his keynote speech at Web Summit. They are:

Ragnarok, Netflix's new Norwegian original series, a coming-of-age drama rooted in Norse mythology and extending it in new and surprising ways. It comes from award-winning writer, Adam Price (Borgen, Ride Upon the Storm) and SAM Productions, a Danish screenwriter-based production company, and will be shot in Norway and Denmark

Alma, Netflix's latest Spanish original series, a young adult supernatural drama written by Sergio G. Sánchez (Marrowbone, The Orphanage), and produced by Belén Atienza (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Marrowbone), Sandra Hermida (Arde Madrid, Marrowbone) and Jesús de la Vega (Intruders, Hierro).

Both titles will enter production in 2019 and launch globally on Netflix in 2020.

Netflix unveiled also the trailers for:

1983, Netflix's first Polish original series launching globally on 30 November

Dogs of Berlin, Netflix's second German original series launching globally on 7 December.

All of the titles will be available to Netflix members around the world in more than 190 countries.

In his speech, Mr Peters shared insights on the Netflix process of subtitling and dubbing European content, enabling shows like Dark from Germany, Elite from Spain and The Rain from Denmark to find fans around the world, as well as exploding demand for entertainment in languages other than English.

He said: "Great stories can come from anywhere, and they can travel everywhere, as long as we use technology to get the right story in front of the right person, and make it a great experience.

"This isn't just great news for Netflix subscribers. The more that creative communities and storytellers can find these new audiences, the more the world opens up to hearing new tales and diverse perspectives. Through Netflix, and all the other great entertainment choices for people, there's never been a better time to be a creator, or a consumer of great movies and television shows."

In addition to 1983 and Dogs of Berlin, Netflix is launching new original shows from Italy (Baby, 30 Nov), France (Plan Coeur, 7 Dec) and Turkey (Protector) before the end of the year. Netflix also announced in recent weeks five new German projects and seven new French titles, as well as season 2 of Spanish show Elite.
